Do you hate your after Radiesse look?

By synner on 17 Jul 2009

Just had radiesse injected for laugh lines wrinkles. My dermatologist also filled in the cheek area to lift the heavy fold. I hate the results. Looks like I had cheek implants and it looks terrible. It's been 4 days and the "swelling" has not come down. Any advice on how to reverse it? Is there anything I can do to help the stuff metabolize faster?

Had Radiesse injected cheek bones and tear throughs 5 years ago, and it created a volume change that is permanent. Huge gigantic volume. Heard Kenalog is risky, but it's the only thing that can be attempted to dissolve Radiesse ?

Hmm...radiesse is not supposed to be permanent. Many of us wish it was!

Nope. Read all the other entries below.... I have been waiting 4 LONG YEARS and now I have a streched out bag of skin under my eye.

I have the same results, getting married in six weeks and am besides myself. I look worse. Has anyone told you how this can be corrected

No you just have to wait ,when did u get it done? I've had it done before 2 times it was so subtle ,but now I am thin and have a very thin neck I look overfilled ,i went in for a touch up and was with a different nurse she obviously is dumb and knows nothing on assymetry and faces she turned my face into an inverted triangle, supposedly this shot can last 2 yrs ,I can't wait till this shit dissolves I'm frustrated and so is my fiance , I've become depressed sleeping all day and night , I have social anxiety so I stay in I avoid the mirror when I used to look in every mirror , the only way I look ok to me is if my hair is down straight covering sides of face , my frontal view is awful but my profile looks ok, when I ask certain people they say I look fine but I'm a perfectionist and fine just isn't ok for me , when you find a good objectors stick with them , if u ever decide to do radiesse again it can be done correctly and have great result ,but if I ever do a filler I'm probably going to stick to a temporary one , what kind of results do you have ?

I had radiesse 3 times first two times looked great . 1 syringe 2 years ago and 1 syringe Oct 2012 both were spread between cheecks nasalfolds and chin both times looked great and procedure went well. Unfortunately I went for a touch up with a different nurse ane injected uneven also she over injected my my cheecks placement is wrong for my bone structure I look horrible once a beauty . she hit a nerve that it caused extreme swellig and ever since I've had headaches in teemple and a day after for 2 weeks following procedure I experienced vision issues went to eye doctor a month later thank god I'm ok as far as pain in head its still there . I'm pissed I went to that appt. That day she made me look my age i always look ten years younger and I don't look like me. I hope this wears off soon I can't bear to look in mirror my face is larger on one side. If she didnt hurt me I would def get it fixed with juvederm something reversible and always go to a injector with experience or who has a good esthetic eye. I can't wait to look like i once did I will def appreciate natural aging.

Juvederm is not always reversible. I've been suffering from swelling complications for almost 7 months now! I've had the enzyme to remove it four times by two different doctors with no change. There are actually a lot of us on here in my situation. Just know with any filler there can be complications. I hope your radiesse problem resolves soon! Filler disasters are awful!

I'm considering it. I'm an atty. in order to prepare a huge suit need tons of people willing to tell their story and willing to be in it more for the effect on the regulations rather than monetary relief ( though they comes too) Drop me a line anyone in my inbox ( I guess you have access to it. Otherwise I'll check back and if need be I'll post my email ). There are plenty of good Drs out there competently administering Radiesse. The goal is for consistent regulations from the FDA and full disclosure from the manufacturer about the risks etc. Its not just patients like us, who are seeking anti-aging remedies, it's patients ( children also) who need reconstructive surgery and are being subjected to painful recovery and further disfigurement.

You are exactly right about the lawsuits. I just advise that no one ever gets the Radiesse injections! Ever!

Radiesse can be decreased somewhat with an injection of Wydase. The Wydase will dissolve the carrier gel but not the core Radiesse product. This means it will decrease the volume by about 30%. When placed artfully, Radiesse can be great for the cheeks. If possible, look at a lot of before and after images to make sure you and your provider have a similar taste in facial aesthetics.

I agree it can be great , I want to get my radiesse done by u , I watched ur videos , I like it done up high close to under eye between nose and cheekbone feathered from cheek to orbital rim on top of periosteum, dr David is this the best way to achieve the triangle of beauty with lifting the whole face ? And can I achieve that if the apples of my cheeks were recently injected and the zygomatica which i hate it widened my face but I naturally have really high cheekbone ,how long should I wait to get injected should I wait till it dissolves? I look horrible my symmetry is off
David Mabrie, MD 25 Mar 2013
I recommend Restylane be used close to the nose and eyes, because the skin is very thin. Radiesse is great for lifting the upper/outer cheeks.

Will my face go back to normal once radiesse dissolves even if one side is larger than the other? I'm afraid it won't. Will the larger side always appear larger because of the collagen growth? Or is the collagen growth subtle unless I constantly get injected?

I will pray for it to dissolve . I got my radiese nightmare in jan 2010 talk about ringing in the new year .. I couldn't even smile because all the product was pushed up from my cheeks to under my eyes so it looked like I had bags and wrinkles .. It went away slowly and it's 2013 I can smile again normally ( big smile eye squint ) and in 2011 I couldn't I had to not smile or smile very fake it was horrible!!! It will dissolve it will melt I know it's so evil I wish they would get this off the market it's ruining self esteem ,, may God help us get our self esteem knowing we r created beautiful in his image

I hate to tell you but fat transfer doesn't always work. In many cases your body will absorb the fat and it usually happens very quickley, within 3 or 4 weeks. It is not the end all to anti aging and is usually quite expensive. You may want to look into Sculptra or Artefill. Also, very expensive but the results are longer lasting. I have had Sculptra and absolutely love it. Good luck.

I feel for everyone who had a bad experience with radiesse, but I must admit, my experience was very good. One thing my doc told me was that radiesse provides more bang for the buck meaning you'll get more lift from a unit of radiesse than from a unit of another product. It should probably be used very conservatively!

When he did me, he injected/massaged, injected/massaged, and used considerable pressure when pressing down on injected area. He only used it around cheek area then used juvederm as he got closer to the eyes. When I got home, I saw some lumpiness so I just started massaging aggressively and it was like I could shape my face with my hands!

End result was great! My biggest problem is that the juvederm has dissolved and the radiesse is still there so there is an imbalance. I suppose I could ride out the duration of the radiesse by getting supplemental juvy shots, but I'm going straight for fat transfer now to be done with it once and for all. In fact, this thing with the "mid face lift" was just a test run to see if I wanted to go with the permanent stem cell fat transfer procedure. Definitely a go.

I had Radiesse for my smile lines, and now I feel like my cheeks have cement in them. It has been four weeks, and it actually is impossible to smile!!! I hate the stuff!!! I had it in my cheeks before, and it was okay. But, never again!!!
angelcat 25 Mar 2013
That's exactly what it did to me!! I could not smile normal for 2 years almost!! Horrible stuff but it will dissolve slowly unfortunately was the case with me it's been 3 years and I can still feel a little what a trauma!

Carriejm, you said it was the other day -- if it was done right, it can take up to a week before it "settles." Mine did that too and went down, a LOT. If there are no lumps you may be ok, so hold on a bit. I worry more if it will change as time goes on, like if I will get the problems that people with MORE fat in their faces get, namely sagginess and jowls. It lasts long enough that it could, perhaps.

I had Radiesse in my jaws and cheeks the other day and it's awful! I look puffy and my face is shapeless. I wouldn't recommend it, but I have heard good stories, too.

AboutLawsuits.com on the right top side of the page, it reads contact a lawyer. I have not done it, but maybe it can help someone.

Here is another poor soul's story. Her name is Mary, from another web site. am now going blind from juvederm in glabella and have brain damage from the juvederm migrating into my brain confirmed on pet scan i have lost 4 and a half stone my hair is falling out and i have severe toxic brain ebcephalopathy. My brain is no longer functioning and i cannot even walk up a flight of stairs. The hyaluronidase administered 6 weeks after the juvederm has caused severe burning 24 hours a day ion brain forehead and eyes i do not sleep eat or even go to the toilet anymore i am dying and it is all to juvederm god help me.Mary.

nadiahoney 6 Mar 2012
oh my God! Is this true? Now I am terrified....re Miami5020's comment about Mary. In nursing school my best teacher ever said that he himself wouldn't take half if not most of the medications on the market, and he never mentioned the ones used in PS offices everywhere. I never thought about repercussions from something that is done so much, on celebs, everywhere! Is this going to be one of those things where years down the line, women are still having health issues? I'd rather look sunken in now than be dying early later.....and now it's too late. I need to find out how common this is....will check into it and we should all do so.
