Dear Doctor, I really need unbiased advice on what I should now do. I had: Narrow palate/teeth, and lateral incisors which were "pushed in" (towards palate). After braces, they looked perfect. Was assured that with a permanent retainer/wire behind teeth, they would stay that way. I'm extremely disappointed to say that 3yrs later they have regressed back. Refused braces. Got veneers instead. They are still too "in", would like them pushed out&widened again. Best solution? Much appreciated
I am sorry you are unhappy with all of the work you have done but try not to be discouraged. You do have options-Firstly, if your underbite, crossbite was indeed corrected by braces your teeth should not have regressed. Narrow palates are difficult to treat but it can be done. Veneers are great but can only do so much. You can veneer the veneers and see if that helps push out the smile enough for you-I have done that successfully for many years. You need to get a experienced dentist to review and advise. Much success-
I have 3 implants, the 2 upper cuspids and the 1st right upper bicuspid. I'm noticing that my 2 front tooth are shifting forward. Can I get a retainer to shift them back, or braces? Anything to correct this? I have gone thru an extreme ordeal over these implants for the past 3 years due to an extraction gone wrong so really appreciate any help to put an end to this.
Implants work very well as anchors when doing orthodontics, but won't move themselves. If your misalignment is minor, just about any method will help (brackets, wires, retainers or Invisalign) but it may be more complicated due to your history of challenges with your extraction.
Your dentist should know how to handle this best.
what is the differance between invialine and regular braces? Which is more effective?
It used to be said that Invisalign did not use brackets and wires, but the frequent use of bonded buttons is very similar to brackets, so the real difference is the wires. In some Invisalign cases, elastics (or rubber bands) are needed, so they aren't always "invisible".
Both are very effective methods to get straight teeth.
