Christopher R. Hove, MD

Before seeing Dr. Hove, I had minor procedures from two other plastic surgeons. Dr. Hove by far was the most professional and reliable surgeon I have gone to. He truly takes his time to understand his patients and does fabulous work. The results are stunning, and I would recommend Dr. Hove and his staff to anyone. Since having two procedures done by Dr. Hove, I have since gotten fillers and Botox from the nurse practitioner at his office, Melani McGuire. Melani has a caring personality and is the only person I would trust with my Botox and filler. She takes the time to understand the patient’s wants and expectations. I spent years setting up consultations to find a plastic surgeons office I trusted to work on my face, because I feel it’s incredibly important to not rush into a decision as big as plastic surgery. I receive many compliments since having work done in Dr. Hove’s office, and I believe when you look your best you feel your best. Thank you so much Dr. Hove and Melani for always helping me feel like my best self.

Dr. Hove is the only doc that I’ll let touch my face. He has done my Botox for several years now and did my blephoraplasty a few years ago. Dr. Hove is compassionate, humble, and if won’t make you look “done.” He gives realistic expectations and is as conservative as you want.

I've used Dr. Hove for over 8 years for skincare. I have never had surgery. He's removed moles and has done an amazing job. I've had NO scarring. I get Botox and chemical peels. I drive 50 miles round trip to go to this Dr. He does sell potions in a bottle. Dr. Hove is very nice, educated, and is a licensed plastic's physician. Love him! You will not look plastic and fake..unless you ask for it. I've maintained a natural look and aging slowly which is inevitable.

I interviewed 4 area top surgeons - and none of them had the eye for subtle, natural lines, like Dr. Hove. He is warm, real, reassuring, and gifted. I agonized over losing the character in my face, looking unnatural, and then...not being happy. I can tell you, no one can pinpoint the difference, but the results, socially, have been amazing - I just look happier, more open - Dr. Hove gave me a chance to be my true self. He is subtle and he is honest. I'll never go to, or recommend, anyone else!

I drove two hours to met Dr. Hove last week after reading many wonderful reviews about him on this website and others. He truly cares about your expectations and he spent plenty of time with me to be sure that he knew what I wanted. We reviewed and edited my photos repeatedly until I saw EXACTLY what I wanted. Dr. Hove is by far the best surgeon that I have met with and I have met with 4 surgeons throughout the New Jersey area over the last 7 years. I have FINALLY decided to do rhinoplasty and chin liposuction. :) I just scheduled my surgery for next week- 9/3/2014. I am SOOO excited to see the results. $5000 for rhinoplasty and $1000 for chin liposuction. I will update this next week :) Updated on 1 Sep 2014: I am thrilled. Dr Hove has been so helpful, calling and checking to see if I need anything before I prepare for my surgery. I cannot wait until Wednesday! I am really concerned what my family will say but so far all of my friends have been supportive as they know how important this is to me. I want to achieve the following: 1. A smaller projection. 2. Less fat under chin (No matter how much weight I lose, this NEVER goes away!) Updated on 4 Sep 2014: Hi everyone :) my surgery went so well yesterday. I'm blessed to have so my friends and family check on me so I haven't had a moment to get online and update my progress. Dr Hove was truly wonderful. He did not have to pack my nose so I am breathing with no issues at all :) I'm thankful for that! So far, I have no bruising at all. The only pain that I'm experiencing is from the chin liposuction, but that's normal. My nose feels great. I can't wait to take the nose splint off next week :) if you're hesitating at all, don't!! Dr Hove is the best :) :) Updated on 4 Sep 2014: I just wanted to post one more photo to show you already how good my chin looks only 24 hours later :) Updated on 6 Sep 2014: Well, it's the evening of Day 4 after my rhinoplasty and chin liposuction. I am so far thrilled with the results. I saw just slight bruising under my left eye, but with a little makeup, I covered that up and was out all day, resuming normal chores. :) I know I should have been resting today, but I was getting cabin fever on a beautiful, sunny 90-degree day. So happy I was able to get out and about because it really lifted my spirits! I can't believe I get my nose cast off on Tuesday (only 3 days away!!). And again, I must mention- STILL no major swelling or bruising! Pleas take note that I have ONLY been taking Tylenol and NO Advil or painkillers. I have been icing my face periodically throughout the day because it feels really good, but doesn't seem to be totally nessasary. Can't wait for Tuesday :) Updated on 9 Sep 2014: Okay here we go everyone :) Cast and stitches came out today! I am THRILLED! Yes, I know my nose still has significant swelling, especially the tip, but considering I had my surgery last Wednesday, I am SO SO SO happy with the results so far!!! I've attached some before/after photos - all new photos were taken a few hours ago :) Updated on 15 Sep 2014: Ok, I'm two days early for my two-week post-op update but I was pretty excited to share this before/after that I made today :) the tip of my nose is still firm and my nose is sensitive at times, but I have no scars and essentially all healed :) just waiting for the last bit of swelling to go down :) Updated on 14 Apr 2015: I'm now 8 months post op and I am so thankful I chose to do this. I am thrilled with the results of the rhinoplasty and the chin liposuction results. Dr. Give has truly been wonderful as well and I referred him a new patient :) I highly recommend him!!! Tell him Darcy sent you :) :) :) Updated on 17 Sep 2016: Hands down, this is your doctor- stop waiting and just book the appointment already. It's the best $$$ I have ever spent and K would have paid more. He's a fantastic doctor with excellent bedside manner, he's kind, nice and does a great job! I had no bruising and no pain. I had my surgery 2+ years ago and I'm still THRILLED with the results!!! Thank you Dr Hove! I have referred many people to him!

After he did my rhinoplasty, my nose actually looked worse. Not to mention my breathing was also impaired. Recently underwent a revision rhinoplasty with another surgeon, which was terrifying but necessary for my health. Got amazing results after revision, but found out that Dr. Hove had mangled my nasal cartilage which the new surgeon had to rebuild with cartilage grafted from my ear. I will say that Dr. Hove is very kind and certainly does have the best intentions. But rhinoplasty takes both surgical skill and an artistic talent. Not everybody should be performing them.

I am very disappointed with the results in my procedure. The initial consultation had promising results with a computer generate image as we discussed my expectations. Months after surgery, my nose looked exactly the same. I expressed my dissatisfaction with Dr Hove and he suggested that I come in for a revision procedure that took about an hour. Still, no much difference and my nose is still crooked but now has a flat spot on the front of it.

I am so scared to get this procedure. Luckily I just found my doctor doesn't pack noses when hes done operating. I was really worried I wouldn't be able to breath. I have always hated my nose, (I am greek, and have my fathers big nose). Just getting the dorsal hump out. VERY nervous! Any tips? I am scared I am not going to like my nose when I am done. I love my profile view but HATE my side profile. It makes me feel like I need a chin implant. Its weird, some angles, my nose looks fine, others it looks awful. Will update this in two weeks. A month to surgery! Updated on 31 May 2013: Just wanted to update this, had my last appointment on Tuesday! So nervous but I am excited. They are doing a closed approach on my nose which is all done on the inside but once they get in there and things don't work out the way there suppose to go, then they will be doing an open approach which is cutting the skin and peeling back my skin on my nose! That frightens me!! Anyways, I will upload some photos, I love my front view of my nose just hate my side view because of my "dorsal hump" I have before and after pictures of what it will look like, praying it comes out they way the pictures are! I would hate to go back for revision! I have my 22nd birthday on June 7th then that Monday is surgery time at 12:30!!! :) I will keep everyone posted Updated on 6 Jun 2013: Just had all my blood work taken and my prescriptions filled! Bought Tylenol and the Aphrin Spray (I think I spelled that wrong) It was recommended by my doctor for any nasal decongestant. They are hoping NOT to pack my nose which I would prefer because I get bad anxiety thinking I wont be able to breath out of my nose. Again, they are going for a closed approach but once they get in there and things don't go they way they want them too, then it will be an open approach! Tomorrow is my 22nd birthday, Taking a little vaca to OCMD this weekend. I will post Monday morning. Had a dream they were only giving me laughing gas LOL. I'm more scared of never waking up again but who isn't? It starts at noon, I should be home around 5/6 tonight! I will post tomorrow or tonight if I'm feeling okay :) Updated on 11 Jun 2013: It went SO well! I was SO scared & nervous! They were so friendly & Dr. Hove is great! They did an open approach so my bottom is all stitched up. It's not packed either! Finally ate some cereal. I did throw up last night bc I took the pain medicine on an empty stomach. Haven't taken any pain meds yet, not really in pain. I have to go to my ammoxicylan now. Still feel pretty weak but I'm moving around. The tip of my nose is tender. Have some swelling too! Updated on 13 Jun 2013: I only had swelling/bruising the day out of the hospital. No bruising at all now & I haven't taken any of my pain meds. Just Tylenol a few times a day. Crazy how I'm not in much pain at all. Very sleepy, I sleep a lot. My throat is still sore from the breathing tube. Very scared to get my stitches out & cast off. It's been SO itchy! I went out last night to get Dairy Queen, oh the looks I got lol :) I just hope I like my nose!! Updated on 17 Jun 2013: I must say, that may have been one of the EASIEST surgeries I ever had. I must have an extremely high pain tolerance. I am back at work, still have the cast & the stitches in my nose. I go at 3:30 to get them out. I am actually really nervous to get the stitches out because I have never had stitches in my life. The worse part about this entire surgery has to be yesterday and Saturday. My nose is SO itchy, and very runny, its just annoying that you can itch inside your nostrils. They actually stuck my nose ring back inside my nose after surgery, so that is currently stuck solid. Scared to have that move lol. IDK why I had them put that back in.. wasn't thinking! I was very anxious and nervous before surgery, just like everyone's fear of never waking up again, or waking up during the procedure. They took the BEST care of me and were so caring. I would say so far, it was TOTAL worth it..however, I haven't seen the result yet. Scared, im not going to like it but well see! Goodluck to anyone getting it done, again I only took Amox and Tylenlol the entire recovery. Its crazy how I was in NO pain at all. I bruised day 2 - 5 through recovery but over the weekend, I was just yellow under my eyes. Now I am completely back to normal just I cant smile yet because of the cast, my upper lip doesnt move! And going out in public, LOVED the stares I got :) hahah Updated on 20 Jun 2013: I must say, Dr. Hove is one of the best surgeons in this area. He is beyond the most caring and sweetest doctor I have ever dealt with. He made me feel so comfortable this entire process. I am so happy with the results. Still swollen, cant wait until it goes down. I am in love with the nose, the bump is gone. There is a small tiny bump, but that is bc of swelling, hopefully it goes down. The cast removal wasn't bad, just very tender to touch and the stitches were like plucking my eyebrows! One of the easiest, painless surgeries I have ever been through! Updated on 20 Jun 2013: Not fully healed yet.. Almost at two weeks from surgery.. Still swollen Updated on 25 Jun 2013: Again, I must say that may have been one of the most easiest surgeries I have ever went through. I am SOOO happy with the results. Starting to see a little curve in my nose that I wanted. I healed SO fast, I am very lucky to be young and in good health! I do not smoke and occasionally drink. I am glad I got it when I am young therefore it will be paid off soon. It was totally worth it. Dr. Hove is by far the best doctor I have ever worked with and is affordable! My nose still is tender and the tip to touch. Of course my horse hit me in the nose twice over the weekend, staying far away from them for another month or so. I barley have any swelling either.

Hello everyone, I'm pretty new to this but I recently started looking around for the best place to get my rhinoplasty done. I've always been pretty self conscious about my nose but I feel as I've gotten older its gotten worse. I hate taking pictures and when I do they are painstakingly posed so as not to get the beaklike appearance my nose has :( I found Dr. Hove through some of the great reviews I've read on here (thanks guys!) He is just how they said he is. Kind, warm, informative you can tell he really cares about his patients. I got this digital imaging showing how it would probably look. I actually had a mini panic attack because I felt like it looks like a whole new me! I feel like its to small and drastic. I thought I would be ready but I guess after 26yrs with this nose it was a bit of a shock. I'm going to keep looking at the pic to see if I can get used to it and if I decide to proceed surgery will be 8/31/2015.

I had a martial arts accident when I was 16 and had what was supposed to be a septoplasty. Fast forward 7 years of living with a deformed nose, and I finally decided to find out what the heck happened during that surgery. I found out he never performed a septoplast,y but many other procedures that left me with a pollybeak deformity and nasal valve collapse. Unfortunately too much time had passed to sue. After much anguish I decided to have it redone and it has been an upward battle of convincing myself to go ahead with it and finding the right surgeon. I finally feel that I found that in Dr. Hove, and even though I am sick over having surgery ( I am terrified of GA, the recovery and outcome) I am as ready as I will every be and want to get it over with and move on with my life. I chose Dr. Hove because I felt that I clicked with him right away. I have spoken to many of his previous patients and they all felt the same as well. He is very kind and relatable, and that just seems to be who he is. He met all of my qualifications and after meeting with him several times (he was very generous with his time) I finally booked my procedure. Thank you for your support. Updated on 26 Dec 2014: I have less than three days and am starting to panic a bit. Thankfully, I received my blood test results in the mail today and everything looks great! I have been trying to exercise, drink lots of water, eat healthy and take all of my vitamins every day in preparation. I did have a significant amount of bruising from getting my blood drawn. I have never had blood drawn before and told the nurse that. She did not apply any pressure after and I didn't either not knowing any better. Oh well, I hope I don't bruise like this after the surgery. Updated on 27 Dec 2014: Starting to freak out a bit. I kept myself extremely busy today and plan to do the same tomorrow. I have been having stomach pains morning and night for a few weeks now. I think it is nerves as I get an upset stomach just about every time I think about it. Does anyone have any tips for going into surgery? How do I mentally prepare myself? I don't want to freak out and embarrass myself but I honestly don't think I will care much about retaining any dignity at that point. Perhaps I should take a Valium? Any tips of words of encouragement will be greatly appreciated. Updated on 28 Dec 2014: Can you tell that I am anxious? I have had bouts of stomach pain and anxiety all day. I just talked to my Dr. on the phone though and that was a little bit alleviating. I am trying to keep busy tonight and hope to get some sleep. Any tips for the morning of? My surgery is going to start at around 10:45 am. I will update again possibly in the morning if I am not running late, and then when I get home if I am feeling up to it. Updated on 31 Dec 2014: I was running late the morning of mostly because I was having second thoughts and did not want to go. Once I got there I had a full blown panic attack and cried begging my husband to take me home. He cried too because he felt so bad for me and wanted to take me home but knew I actually wanted this and was just scared. The procedure went well and took about 3 hours due to lots of scar tissue. When I awoke I had severe nausea and stomach pain but no vomiting. It lasted a few hours and then I went home. So I was there longer than I thought I would be. I have only taken Tylenol 325mg a few times a day since being home. I have taken the antibiotic and my vitamins. My husband has been juicing for me and making me smoothies. I have not looked in the mirror and am too afraid to but my husband said only my nose is swollen but I have no bruising. I talked o the Dr. today and he was amazed that I am not in pain or nauseated or swollen and bruised. I have been having sneezing fits and every time I do my nose bleeds and hurts a little bit. I will not be posting any pictures until I am ready to see what I look like and emotionally I am just not there yet Thank you all for your well wishes and prayers. Updated on 1 Jan 2015: I am starting to get bored just laying in bed all day. With it being new years and seeing all of my friends talk about how they spent the holidays got me a bit down. My husband cooked a special meal that was soft enough for me to chew to celebrate the new year. I also got a letter from myself one year ago (future me.org) that told me to pursue fixing what was stolen from me with the previous rhinoplasty so that was encouraging. I still feel about the same and have not looked in a mirror! Lol I figure what's done is done and good forbid I don't like it I might as well be ignorantly blissful in my discomfort. Updated on 4 Jan 2015: So finally on Friday I noticed I was not having to change my drip pad. Yesterday all of a sudden I was able to get some airflow through both sides of my nose. I am still mouth breathing but the pressure has equalized and I am much more comfortable. Also for the first time I am aware of the splints in my nose. I think my swelling has gone down enough that I am not longer pushing against the splints and now there is more sensitivity that I can feel them in there... kind of a weird sensation. Anyways I finally took my drip pad off and took some pictures. It is not perfect. If I were to post pics from the bottom looking up you could see my nose still tilts the the side but when I compare it to the pictures I took prior to the surgery it is a huge difference. Overall at this time I am very happy. I will be posting more pics in the next few days. Updated on 5 Jan 2015: So I kind of had a funny experience today. I have been using the saline spray very sparingly because the instructions said not to get my splints wet. I actually thought my splints were starting to emerge from my nose and looked like 2 hard dark tubes. Turns out, the Dr. forgot to tell me he didn't end up needing to use splints and I didn't have any in! What I saw and felt were scabs haha. I was so embarrassed. My husband laughed at me and called me the boogy monster. Oh well. I guess I could have been breathing better all along. I will just have to try to play catch up now. Anyway taking the stitches and bandage off were easy. I am still quite swollen but like where things are headed. I do notice a difference in my breathing (even though I still need to use my mouth I know it will be better than before, I can feel air reaching places it never did before). Anyway my Dr. is so nice and we talked about the procedure. I am quite satisfied with how things went. Apparently my freak out at the surgery center was the talk of the town haha. Oh well. I won't be seeing them again anyways. I am posting some pics taken a few days before my surgery so that you can get a better idea of what improvements were made. The other two on the way home from the Dr.'s. I am doing well, just really annoyed with the scabs in my nose. They are very visible, hope they come off soon so I can get back out and about. Updated on 16 Jan 2015: So I went back to work this week (nannying) which was fine. It was very difficult to start having to leave the house again I got really comfy staying in in this cold weather! I got my hair cut on Wed and that is when this pic is from. A couple of things... first I was planning on returning to yoga tomorrow. My doc said I could after 1 week if I felt up to it, but I tried doing down dog and could immediately feel my nose get "heavy" and throb so I think its too early to jump back into and hour long class. Secondly, I started my grad school classes on the 7th and am really struggling! My concentration is terrible and my short term memory as well. I have read that because how general anesthesia is not really well understood it may have many effects on the brain that are unknown. I read that especially in older people it can cause permanent memory damage. Less so in younger people because of neural plasticity. Anyway I really struggled very much with anxiety over this. My husband thinks it is because I laid in bed for 2 weeks melting my mind in front of the TV. Anyways whatever it is I hope it clears up soon! I am driving him crazy asking the same things a million times forgetting we already talked about it, losing things, leaving the light on in my car. I literally lost my phone in the same spot multiple times in 1 hour. I talked to my Dr. and he said I may take a month before I feel back to my usual level of functioning. Anyhow I have other pics from the healing process that I will be adding soon. Updated on 17 Jan 2015: So I just wanted to update again about how recovery is progressing. I had an event I wanted to go to tonight and I went there and went straight to the bathroom. In the fluorescent lighting I could see how visible my incision was and how scabby/flaky/gross the underside of my nose looks. I guess I have poor lighting at home because I thought it looked fine enough to go back out into the world! Well these are people that do not know about the surgery and I freaked out that they would be able to tell. I left. AFTER my husband had gone inside and told them I was all there. I made him take me home. Oh gosh I don't even know what excuse I can come up. I thought that I wouldn't care what people thought or if they speculated but I guess I do. It sure enough gave me anxiety. I don't know what to do now. Updated on 26 Jan 2015: Thankfully I made my appointment at 5 weeks because of this snow storm here in the northeast. I return to my Dr. a week from today. I am so happy it is snowing. I feel like I am celebrating my first month post off by having a nice day off work. I will wait to post pictures next week. Hopefully I can get some taken at the Dr.'s and we can put together a side by side comparison. So far I am happy. I can breath better although I still feel congested. I am able to wash my nose very gently and have even been back to my regular sleep position with one pillow on my side. I am returning to Yoga on Saturday. I hope that my healing continues well and I will update again in one week. Thank you all you have been a wonderful support to me through this process:) Updated on 5 Mar 2015: I have since had 2 post op visits. The first one was 6 1/2 weeks after my surgery. It kept getting postponed due to poor weather. It went well and he addressed my concerns of stuffy breathing. He told me to pick up ponaris oil at the pharmacy which is an all natural nasal emollient using cotton seed oil and eucalyptus. It has been working well. I was supposed to have my next appointment next week but instead moved it up to a few days ago because of some concern of how it was looking from the front. He said I am healing ahead of schedule on the one side and the swelling has gone down rapidly but the side that had more work is taking a little longer and it should end up more symmetrical in the end. He has advised me to gently massage the bridge everyday for a minute. I will attach a picture of the profile for now and some head on images once I get a better idea of how the swelling is going to even out (fingers crossed). My next apt. is in April and I should have a better idea by then how it will eventually look and post again then. So far I am very happy with the profile:) Updated on 5 Mar 2015: Updated on 13 Apr 2015: I had my 3 months PO visit about 2 weeks ago. The Dr. said that everything is healing nicely. The swelling has gone down on one side more rapidly than the other and has left me a bit asymmetrical. He said to wait and see what it looks like at the 6 month mark when my next apt. is. The tip and columella are still sore to the touch. I have been gently massaging the bridge as he said to reduce scar tissue but after a couple days of that it gets swollen so I take a break. I will update again then with more thoughts on asymmetry if any remain and whatnot. I will also get before and after pics then. And yes I wear my robe a lot haha.
