5 months ago I had Juvederm for naso folds. I wasn't very happy with results, 1 side didn't need as much but I feel he overfilled. When he was injecting that side, on the last injection he pulled out the needle & right away there was a lump at injection site along with more bleeding than any other area. He said it will go down. 10 days later still there, went back in. Dr did nothing. Now 5 mos later, Juve is slightly going away & lump seems more noticeable. How can I tell if it's a granuloma?
A granuloma is unusual with Juvederm. More likley it is a lump of juvederm. This more than likley an be dissolved with hyaluronidase. Ask your doctor or get a second opinion.
I recently consulted with a plastic surgeon about juvederm for my nasolabial folds. He said that the juvederm is not injected all the way to the corners of the mouth; rather it should stop about halfway down the fold from the nose to avoid any issues with smile irregularities. This concerns me because it would not erase the pronounced line on the left side of my mouth. Is this true?
I see no problem injecting fillers in the nasolabial folds and frequently extend my injections when treating this area very close to the corners of the mouth. In fact it is customary when injecting hyaluaronic acid fillers (such as Juvederm) for lip augmentation or treatment of the marionette lines that one inject in the corner of the mouth.
Previously in CA, 1/3 of a vial of Rystalane to fill shallow acne scars in cheeks every 9 mths. Now, in LA I have seen two doctors, one Derm, one PS, 4 V's of Juvaderm, both missed the scars, which everyone can see. The result is they injected three 1/2 vials into my cheeks which were already full. I look like a chipmonk WITH acne scars remaining. I wanted NO volume. Also placed too much in my top lip now protruding over the bottom lip. UGLY! Help !
Your prior provider must have expertly superficially placed tiny drops of REstylane underneath your acne scars to lift them up but the recent placement of Juvederm was more of a volume effect that you didn't want. Juvederm can retain more water at times than REstylane. Fortunately it does resolve but you can have hyaluronidase injected to dissolve some of the product that you don't like. You couldn't have too much hyaluronidase injected per session so discuss the plan with your doctor.
