What Age is Recommended for a Chin and Jowel Lift? I' M 43 Years Old

At what age is a facelift recommnded for a chin and frown line lift? I'm 43 years old and have always been about 5'8" and pretty slender. This is definitely a heriditary issue, Are there any dr.'s that are good but also not as expensive? I read somwhere that the sagging neck works better when you get older, but I have quite an insecurity about this now. Any advice would be truly appreciated.I've always felt un attractive and was tormented by kids in school. Please. advice would really help.

A: What is the Proper Age for a Facelift?

There is truly no "proper" age to entertain the idea of undergoing a Facelift.  I tell patients that "the mirror" will provide you with the best estimate.  In the early 40's it is not uncommon to see signs of aging in the form of mild sagging of the neck skin, and the early formation of "jowls".  A Facelift targets the lower third of the face, specifically the jowls and neck.  In this age group, a "mini-lift" combined with a neck lift is usually all that is necessary to provide rejuvenation.  A "mini-lift" will provide you with a quicker recovery, and usually at a lower cost.  If marked jowling and sagging of the neck is present, then a formal Facelift with neck lift is needed.  A consultation with an experienced Facelift surgeon will provide you with the correct path towards rejuvenation.  Please reference the link provided.  Good Luck, Dr. Corrado.

A: Swelling after Surgery

Although you didn't provide how far out you were from all procedures, from the appearance alone it seems like you are probably about a month or two postop.  You had a considerable amount of surgery, specifically in the area of the midface, referring to rhinoplasty and a midface lift.  Traditionally, both of these procedures result in moderate swelling in the mid face region which takes a number of months to subside.  Specifically with regards to midface lift surgery, the subperiosteal approach utilized, causes patients to suffer from prolonged periods of post op swelling.  At this point I would wait to see what the final results look like in 6-8 months before undergoing any thoughts of revision.  Good Luck.... Ripples After a Facelift - Is This Normal?

Had Facelift 3 Month Ago, and Still Have Ripples Around my Jaw Line and Mouth, is This Normal?

A: Facelift Recovery

This question is very difficult to answer without a photo.  While these ripples may be present due to prolonged swelling, induration, skin tethering, three months is slighty a prolonged period of time not to see any resolution.  I would first follow-up with your surgeon to get his opinion.  Warm compresses and gentle massage can help to resolve some of the above causes, and your problems may resolve.  It is also possible that you might need a revision procedure, but this decision cannot be made for number of months.  Good Luck,  Dr. Corrado
