After Receiving Botox My Eyes Began to Burn. Doctor Said He'd Never Heard of That Happening, Could it be Related?

I had botox by an experienced doctor two and a half days ago inbetween the brows and forehead,that evening when i went to bed my eyes started burning very bad starting at the inner corner of the eyes also my eyes started twitching when closed,a tear would fill the eye from the corner and pass over my eye burning .I also have sore eyes.My gp gave me drops i rang the doctor who gave me the botox he had never heard of this problem and im going t an eye specialist,please advice me

A: Burning Eyes after Botox

It is very unlikely to have burning eyes from Botox. The twitching is possible. Here are a few possibilities;

1. You developed an eye infection at the same time completely unrelated to Botox

2. Botox did cause sore burning eyes in some obscure way that we cannot explain

3. Botox can cause flu like symptoms. I have experienced it myself. Eye burning could be a part of that. That would be a systemic (through blood) response and not from injecting the Botox in the wrong place.

Bottomline: As long as your vision is intact and you are cleared by an ophthalmologist, you can relax.

What Is The Best Filler for Glabella Lines?

Hello! I got 25units of botox on November 7th. I can still make those 11 lines and the depression is still there. Should I look into a filler and which one is best for the area? Would I also have to get a couple more units of Botox? I have been using botox for the last four years, could it be time to look into Dysport? Thanks for your advice

A: Best option for Glabella lines...

A good Botox treatment should make it so you cannot move the glabella, or the area of the "11" lines.  If you had movement the whole time, then I would question your physician about it.  It has been two months since your treatment so to see a little movement now would be normal.  If you get a good muscle paralysis with the Botox and you still see the lines, I would use some Juvederm in the area to help release the wrinkles and fill it in some.  Dysport gives about the same results as Botox.  Be sure to raise all of these issues with your physician and if you are still not happy, I would seek another opinion.  Many different techniques are used among different providers and someone else may have better luck.

Bruising After Botox, Is this Normal?

I had Botox injected saturday afternoon. Sunday morning I woke up with a red dot in the middle of my forehead and a few by my hair line. I have read that brusing is normal sometimes. The first time I had this done I had nothing. Its Monday night now and the dot has not gotten any better. is this just a broken blood vessel and how long w/it last? Besides that the botox so far looks good.

A: Bruising after Botox injections...

Unfortunately, bruising is always a possibility when an injection is done.  There is no magical formula, and any physician who has injected Botox or other fillers has had bruising on occasion.  Often times there may be no bruising at all, but sometimes it happens.  Usually the physician can apply some pressure to the area when he sees that a bruise may occur to decrease the possibility of a large bruise.  If it does occur, it will usually resolve in a few days.  You may feel free to cover it up with make-up.  If you have any concerns, make an appointment with the physician who injected you so he can take a look and answer any questions you have.
