A friend had Juvederm to the lower lids for under eye hollows & was performed by a Board cert. plastic surgeon. She said the Dr. only injected the tear trough area, (closest to the nose) not the entire lower lid, as she had clearly requested.
The tear trough area looks much better, but the outer lids are still hollow, which is much more noticeable now, compared to the area that was treated.
How should she approach the Dr. to discuss having the procedure done to her satisfaction?
If you have received significant improvement in the tear trough area and still think you have hollowness in the lateral lower eyelid area, you should not hesitate to discuss your desires and concerns with your surgeon. Likely, he has injected all of the Juvederm that you have paid for and if you need more you should be willing to purchase as much as is needed. It sounds like you have had an excellent result in filling the tear trough hollowness so you should expect that the rest of the lower lid hollowing should improve as well with more volume injected.
Previously in CA, 1/3 of a vial of Rystalane to fill shallow acne scars in cheeks every 9 mths. Now, in LA I have seen two doctors, one Derm, one PS, 4 V's of Juvaderm, both missed the scars, which everyone can see. The result is they injected three 1/2 vials into my cheeks which were already full. I look like a chipmonk WITH acne scars remaining. I wanted NO volume. Also placed too much in my top lip now protruding over the bottom lip. UGLY! Help !
Fortunately, hyaluronic acid products like Restylane and Juvederm can be eliminated by injecting an enzyme called hyaluronidase, which is safe and effective. These are the only fillers that can be eliminated in any way other than "tincture of time".
Juvaderm injected under orbital rim three weeks ago. I have pillow like lumps under the orbital rim with very evident indents ( not shadows) under the pillows when I smile. Indents run from side of nose under the pillows. I look like I have very large bags. I also have a few lumpy nodules running along orbital rim. I have a review this week what should I do? Indents filled? Juvenile dissolved? Or wait it out and suffer the bags?
Fortunately, Juvederm is completely reversible by injecting hyaluronidase (Vitrase) into the eyelids and the Juvederm will completely disappear. The lumps and the appearance of bags under the eyes that are caused by the Juvederm will resolve within 24hrs or less. If you had pre-existing bags under your eyes, they will look like they did before the Juvederm injection.
