I'm really interested in Botox for masseter hypertrophy. As far as I know, I'm a candidate for this procedure (meeting with a doctor will confirm this, obviously). So, in finding a doctor: Is any doctor who can administer Botox for wrinkles capable of injecting it into the masseter? Or should the doctor perform the procedure on a regular basis? How many masseter injections is a good number? Thanks!
While the best answer is to find a doctor that has performed several of these procedures, Botox to the masseter muscle is a relatively uncommon procedure in the US compared to Korea and Asia in general.
Any surgeon who performs a high volume of facial surgery (i.e., someone who specializes in face), will be more than competent to inject your masseter muscles, however, provided he/she has significant experience in Botox treatments in general.
I just had 20 units above my brow now 1 eye is half closed. I look AWFUL & vision is compromised. The P surgeon gave me no post op advice, claiming there was none to give. I have since learned otherwise! He's blaming it on a fracture to my skull he claims I have, though I never had an injury. The over the counter drops aren't working. Will prescription drops work better? Could a fracture cause the Botox to travel? Or is it due to possibly rubbing my brow or sleeping after the treatment? Help :(
While eyelid droop after Botox is rare, it does occur. This occurs from Botox affecting the eyelid opening muscle.
Most cases I have heard of do not involve any previous fracture. Pressing/rubbing on the area in the first 24 hours can cause the medicine to move, as can injection technique.
The good news - it will mosty wear off by 6 weeks, and drops can help (as can additional Botox into the opposing eyelid muscles, although this is a VERY advanced technique).
I had botox for crows feet and few lines under the eye area now after 5 days I have bags and a deeper line under the bags. What should I do.I have put ice on because there was swelling at first. Now the bags and under the bags a deeper line. This was done by my Deromotolgist that I have been going to for 5 years with no problems. What do you suggest?
Update 12/8/11:
I called my dermo. doctor and she is to see me next Wed. at 10:00 am. to fix and put something in the lines under bags .Should I say to her not to put more Botox or is that ok? Will it make it worse should she put a filler in the lines instead?I have my daughter and her husband who are in the Army for the first time in 7 years home and there will be pictures so I'm freaking out abit and want something done.I'm using a eye tighter but feels yucky.thanks so much .
Hello!
I'm sorry to hear about your bad experience with Botox. What you are describing may be swelling - which would pass within a few more days - or may be that the Botox has relaxed the muscle of your lower eyelid that "holds in" the bags of fat. It that is the case, the problem will resolve on its own as the Botox wears off - it will not be a permanent problem.
Coincidentally - I grew up in Effingham, and my mother used to practice in Altamont!
Best,
Mike Nayak
