What Are Non Surgical Alternatives To A Brow Lift?
I got some great answers, thanks to all of the doctors that responded!I did some research and do not think I am ready to go through with a brow lift. I do feel I am a little young and should try other options first. The problem is that I had tried botox about a year ago and didn't get very noticeable results. Could this be that the doctor just didn't do a great job? I would be willing to try botox again, if I know that I have a good chance of lifting the lateral brow portions.
A: Many Options For Non Surgical Brow LiftThe eyebrow falls :
- Pulling of muscles that squeeze the brow down
- Loss of volume - changes in the structure of the brow bones and loss of fat which hold up the brow
- Laxity or looseness of the skin
Each of these can be addressed by
- Botox, Dysport or Xeomin can relax the muscles that pull the brow down; allowing the muscles that elevate the brow to lift
- Fillers; either your own natural fat or Radiesse, Sculptra, Restylane can raise the brow and recreate the lost volume
- The skin can be tightened above the brow using Thermage, Mixto or similar procedure
A complete evaluation would be necessary to see which of these modalities would best suit your needs.
What Eyelid Surgery Technique Doesn't Require Stitches at All?
What is the reliability of such techniques compared to the ones that require stitches?
A: Laser Transconjunctival Lower Eyelid Surgery Requires No StitichesI have been performing lower eyelid surgery using a CO2 ( carbon dioxide) laser for over 15 years. The advantage of this technique:
- No skin incision
- No stitches
- No scalpel blade
This same laser helps to stop bleeding so the surgery can be faster with less swelling and black and blueness than traditional methods. The same laser Mixto can be used to rejuvenate the skin on the lower eyelids.
The attached video is of upper eyelid surgery, where a stitch is necessary.
Fours Days Post Mixto Treatment with No Signs of Peeling.
I had the mixto treatment on my chest four days ago. I show no signs of peeling. Is it possible not to peel? I use aloe vera instead of vasaeline. Should I switch? thanks
A: Mixto Peeling May Not Be Visible and May Have Not Yet StartedThe beauty of Mixto fractional laser resurfacing is that it is truly customizable. Without knowing your skin and settings used by your physician it is impossible to comment on your particular case. That stated most non-facial resurfacing:
- will peel for up to 14 days
- energy levels are set lower than for the face so as not to harm skin while at the same creating beneficial changes
- need a series of treatments
I do not have my patients use Vaseline nor aloe vera. Please discuss the post operative regimen with your cosmetic surgeon.
