Am I a Good Candidate for Blepharoplasty?

I would like almond shaped eyes but I've been told that canthoplasty is a bad idea for me. I would like to know if I am a candidate for blepharoplasty? If I am not, are there any suggestions as to how I can get almond shaped eyes? Thank you.

A: Please don't have surgery!!

I think the surgeon told you not to have a canthoplasty bacause they didn't think you were a candidate for any surgical procedure. You are a beautiful young woman with beautiful eyes. Please don't have a surgical procedure to change your eyelids!

What is More Invasive..a Browlift or Upper Blephroplasty?

Which is more invasive...a browlift or upp blephroplasty? Thanks!

A: A brow lift is more invasive than a blepharoplasty (upper lid surgery)

A brow lift (usually performed endoscopically) involves moving the whole brow/forehead complex superiorly. This can serve to tighten the upper lid skin and move the brows to a more anatomically correct position. A blepharoplasty, however, involves only tightening the upper lid skin (with small amounts of muscle and fat removal). I perform endoscopic brow lifts with the patient under anesthesia. Because the upper lid surgery is easier to tolerate, I perform most of my upper lid surgeries under local anesthesia.

Blepharoplasty of Upper Eyelids. Is fat and muscle removed or just skin?

Do most surgeons remove fat and muscle in the upper eye lids during blepharoplasty? Or is just the excess skin removed?

A: Upper Eyelid Surgery: Not always just skin

Upper eyelid surgery, or "blepharoplasty", when performed for cosmetic reasons, serves to remove heavy skin of the upper lids. Occasionally this involves removal of a small strip of muscle and may also include the removal of fat that has herniated out from behind the muscle. Usually, the decision about what to remove and how much to remove is made by your surgeon.
