Is It Ok for Post Op Review to Be Done by Another Surgeon?
I live out of province from where i'm traveling to have my rhinoplasty done (24 hour drive). Is it a big deal to have the surgery, drive home, and have another surgeon in my home town do my post op (take off cast, make sure everything's ok)? Gets very expensive otherwise.
A: Not a very good ideaI do not think that is a very good idea at all. The post operative care after rhinoplasty is very important. If I was the surgeon I would not agree to have you do this Nor would I consent to see you after surgery if I was not the surgeon doing the procedure
Tip of Nose is Red ad Dry a Year After Rhinoplasty, Why? Options? (photo)
I had rhinoplasty 13 months ago and the tip of my nose still is consistently dry and flaky. The swelling is gone, just the tip of my nose is red and dry. How can I get rid of this, it is very noticeable in pictures.
A: Post-op RhinoplastyIt looks like you have very thin skin and perhaps some sun damage and modifications of the cartilage are clearly seen. Using moisturizers on a continuous basis may be helpful but my guess is that this may always be a problem
I Feel Like I Have a Pug Nose After Alar Reduction, Will It Improve in Time? (photo)
I had alar base reduction performed 5 days ago ( i know it' still early), and I'm still swollen. But I'm very concerned with the fact my nose now has an upturned appearance. It looks like the doctor pulled the edges of my nostrils too low, so now my tip is upturned. Can the swelling cause this? Or am I going to need to have my columula cut to make up the difference? Help!
A: Give it some timeJust curious but was anything else done besdies the alarplasty? It looks to me as if the alar width was only minimally reduced and that alar hooding was present prior to the procedure. In my mind, the main thing that needs to be done is to increase the nasal tip projection and to create a more defined nasal tip.
You should wait at least 2-3 months and then if you are not happy you should see someone very experienced with complex nasal surgery and who is skilled in the use of cartilage grafts to support and define the nose. IN my mind there are probably less than 1000 surgeons in the US who fit this description.....a few are general plastic surgeons and the remainder are Board Certified Facial Plastic Surgeons.
