Can bleph eyelid surgery be done without anesthesia? If so, how does it work?
Hello! Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, is fairly easily done under local alone- a numbing injection is all that is needed, with or without valium or halcion before the procedure. If you are looking to not remember anything, consider sedation with IV medications to take away memory and pain. Regardless, the procedure is fairly quick, and the only pain that should be felt is the sting of the numbing injection. there is very little discomfort after surgery regardless of anesthetic choice. good luck!
I have extra skin on one eye after upper Blepharoplasty 3 weeks ago. Should I plan to have surgery again to have it redone since extra skin was left?
Assuming you didn't originally need a brow lift, I'd give this surgery some time before making a decision on its success. Three weeks isn't much time. You still likely have some swelling which will detract from your final result. Give it a couple months before approaching your surgeon about a touchup.
I had a Blepharoplasty done 4 weeks ago and one of my eye scar seems to be holding it slightly opened when I blink and sleep. I had steroid injections on the scars a few days ago. I have excess skin that folds over the scar even when my eyelid is closed.
My lower lid on the same eye has a dimple from the scar and it seems it is keeping it from lifting properly. What is causing this to happen and will it ever be able to close?
A little bit of ectropion following a blepharoplasty isn't uncommon and often times as the swelling resolves, this will improve. I would consider scar massage in someone at your point in recovery -- massaging the scar up and out with some firm pressure. That will often force fluid out of the scar and help the ectropion.
A steroid injection is another way to limit the swelling in the area. With just a couple days behind you since the injection, you really need to give it a couple days or even a week before you start seeing a difference.
Good luck.
