I had strabismus surgery on only my left eye 4 weeks ago. The alignment is fine now, but what I didn't expect is that now my eyelid droops. My eyelid feels like there is a weight on it that prevents me from lifting the lid all the way up. I did not have this problem before. Is this likely permanent? Would a blepharoplasty fix this? I had a previous strabismus surgery 25 years ago, and DID NOT have droopy eyelids afterwards.
When strabismus surgery is done a retractor is used. If you have a slight weakness in the levator muscle it can be increased. This may result in a slight drooping or ptosis. It is a very rare occurence but can occur. The treatment if that is the case is a levator repair. This corrects the ptosis. Discuss this with your opthalmologist to see if this is the case and would help you. Good luck, Dr. Schuster in Boca Raton.
I'm a young 24 year old but I have really bad Hollow eyes. It has been hard to find another case like mine, but I found one that is similar to me. I want your opinion on this case. What procedures would you do? Would it be as effective
Although the implants are a possibility, this is not something I have used. I would try a lipoinjection of fat to the sulcus. You must use a board certified plastic surgeon with experience in this procedure to avoid complications. Do your homework and see several doctors before you decide to proceed.
The swelling subsided considerably the first week but it feels very firm just below my eyelid and wobbly more closer to the lower end of the hematoma. 1. Did the surgeon graft too much fat under my eyelid? 2. I can still feel a slight foreign body scratch in my right eye when I look down. I was informed by my surgeon that I can feel the suture. Will this need treatment? 3. Is there a risk of a permanent fluid retention under my skin as my skin is very expandable (according to the Dr)? Thanks!
Your surgeon is right, puffiness is very common after surgery especially when fat is added and you have lax skin. I would not do anything yet as it is still very early in the post op period. I would follow your surgeons advice and see what happens over the next 6 weeks. As far as the suture goes, if it is bothering you it can easily be removed . Good luck.
