Could someone please tell me what the depth of the injection of Restylane for the lips is? Would the injection be subcutaneous, or deeper? I'm currently having Restylane injections around the lip line and even 3 months after injection, I have vertical lines on the lips from the Restylane which I never had before. You can see lumps and bumps from the Restylane. Other people I see that have the Restylane injections for the lips do not have these visible lumps and bumps.
It is unfortunate that you had a side effect with Restylane. This is a a popular filler used around the lips intra--dermally. So it is injected into the middle layer of the skin called dermis. If the appropriate amount of the filler is used and injected into a correct skin layer, then resulting complications such as lumps and bumps are very rare. Therefore, if you are seeing these problems, please see your practitioner. There are ways to reverse some of these issues with hyaluronidase injections. Take care and good luck.
I had restylane in my tear troughs on 24th Jan its been 8 days today. Swelling has pretty much resolved.Doc injected abt 0.8cc both eyes combined. My left eye just has a small dark brown mark, which I think is bruising. My right shows a deeper dark brown mark, but when seen in sunlight,I see a very lightly visible dark blue hue between the dark brown bruises. Could this be a blood clot or tyndall effect?Doc said that sometimes veins are not visible when injecting, think he hit the vein.
It is hard to tell from your photo, but all of the possibilities you mentioned can contribute to a less than optimal result from Restylane or Juvederm (HA) treatment for the lower eyelids. Placing a filler carefully in the area beneath the lower eyelid can be a very effective means to smooth out the contour (tear trough) or to improve fine lines. However, as you are aware, bleeding/bruising can occur as with any injection and can be particularly problematic due to the thinness of the skin leading to increased visibility. Similary, if the injection is too close to the surface it can be visible (Tyndall effect) or if injected non-uniformly, can lead to bumps.
Fortunately, all of the above problems eventually resolve, the HA's can be dissolved occasionally with hyaluronidase and another attempt to repeat the treatment is an option.
Looking at pretrestment photos for comparison will help you to decide how successful it was for you.
Good luck.
I had restylane the last November. The Dr. told me I only need one syringe -$700. I did not had pain, but after a week, my nasolabial area is looking almost the same as before. I when back to see my doctor and he told I need one more syringe. I am feeling very upset because I don’t know if he is telling me the true or not. I also had it on my on my marionette lines and after that he told me that it doesn’t work there. Now he thinks I should have radiesse. I should get a new doctor???
Your story is not at all uncommon. One of the most common "problems" with fillers is incompete or insufficient improvement of a line, fold or wrinkle. It is important to discuss this fully with your physician (preferably before treatment). Often it is necessary to use more than one syringe for deeper lines to achieve a better correction.
Radiesse is a very good filler as is Restylane, but they are different products with different uses. Typically, Radiesse is better for deeper, more volumizing correction and also is longer lasting than Restylane.
If you are not confident in your physician, you should consider a second opinion.
