Is Anchor Blepharoplasty Considered an Effective an Safe Option for Excess Upper Eyelid Fat and Skin?

Hi, I am considering getting surgery in Malaysia, by a surgeon who's results I have seen on a patient who recieved upper and lower blepaharoplasty. I have been in touch with him and sent photos and he suggested that I get anchor blepharoplasty. Is this safe and effective? Is it the same as threading - as I have read about threading on this site and it dosent sound too good. I have always had quite fat upper lids and dont want to get rid of them completley with full blepharoplasty. I am 33.

A: blepharoplasty is a common procedure done well by surgeons in Melbourne I will start by saying that I have no idea what an anchor lift is relative to the eyelids. I also wonder How a surgeon looking at photographs only can accurately plan an aesthetic surgical procedure. I assume you write from Australia where there are many highly trained and qualified plastic surgeon. Why would you trust your face and vision to a surgeon who believes surgery scheduled over photographs is safe and appropriate management?

Teenage Eyelid Surgury for fixing Asymetrical Eyelids

Hello, I am interested in correcting my asymmetric eyelids. I am only 16 and would like some advice for what could be done to fix this or if i should at such an age. I know i have lazy eye(Amblyopia) in one eye so that could be a cause of this condition.

A: eyelid surgery in a 16 yr old. you are probably better off waiting Thank you for including your photo with your question. It makes it much easier to answer appropriately. While very concerning to you, from a surgical standpoint the asymmetry of your lids is minimal. The risk you run at this time is that surgery may make things different but still asymmetric. Surgery is not an exact science and minor changes also leave scars. My advice is to wait. As you age the asymmetry may change or both lids age to a point where the risks of surgery will be worth the improvement gained.

Is Skin Removed During Ptosis Repair?

in a levator approach/resection (ptosis repairs) is any skin removed? or none at all

A: Skin excision may be done at the same time as a ptosis repair

Ptosis repair involves tightening or shortening the small muscle and tendon that open the upper lid.  Removal of excess upper lid skin may be done at the same time for cosmetic improvement, but is not an integral part of the ptosis repair
