How Long Should I Wait After Liposuction To Start Exercising Again?

I scheduled an otoplasty for September 19th and a liposuction a week later. I exercise in the Power Plate platform three times a week and do pilates twice a week. Since the vibrating platform is new in Paraguay, doctors don't know a lot about it, and my concern is: for how long should I stop exercising? I consulted with a doctor and he told me that I'd have to rest for a couple of weeks. On the other hand, my instructor said that most of the people wait a month before start exercising again.

A: Liposuction and exercise

Following liposuction, I advise patoent to resume excercise after three weeks. I think you should start with cardio exercises on treadmill and advance it to pillates over 1 week period. I am not sure, however, why you are having two surgeries one week apart.

Post-Baby, Can I Do Liposuction or Do I Need a Tummy Tuck?

I am a 29 year old mom of three. I am 5'2" and currently 136 lbs, my waist 37" presently. I have a 5 week old son and normally are 128-130 lbs. I have a lot of stretch marks and loose skin below belly button and stretch marks along the sides. My belly button is also misshapen. I want a flatter more contoured stomach to match my active lifestyle. I am OK with living with stretch marks and am more concerned with how I look in clothing versus naked or in a bikini. Will a reputable doctor do lipo?

A: You need both

Tummy tuck is the procedure of choice based on the photo you provided. You have some excess skin and anterior muscle laxity. These will be addressed with tummy tuck. You will however, need liposuction to the waist area. So a combination of tummy tuck and liposuction is the answer to your question. Your plastic surgeon will be able advise you about both procedures.

Touch-up Abdomen Liposuction

Had lipo on my abs Dec '10. I need touchup because i have an oval of fat in the middle. I hate my abs now. My doc was surprised how much fat he removed (2000cc from ab,back, leg) because I have a very small frame. My concern is that he isn't going to take enough out to make a difference- he's very conservative. He's also concerned I will form dimples on the abs. I have to pay $1500 for op room and anastesia. Do you think i am going to see the results needed, dimples, should i go to another doc?

A: Touch up liposuction

You have to compare your results with how you were before surgery. Touch up liposuction is not uncommon, but it has to  applied safely so you do not get unintended results, such as dimpling. You need to have that discussion with your doctor and so far I think he did the right thing. Correcting a liposuction complication is very difficult and expensive. I have seen dimpling, scarring and skin color changes from aggressive liposuction.
