Can Cheek Fillers Such As Restylane Help Diminish Appearance of Undereye Bags?

I had thermage done when I was 23 and I went from being full faced to looking quite gaunt. As a result, I think it took a toll the structured support under my eyes. If I get an injectable filler, such as restylane, could this help my tired-looking under eyes? Or should I just get a really good under eye cream? I'm only 25. Thanks!

A: Restylane for baggy eyes

Thermage did not likely cause this problem. However, Restylane is very effective to blend in the bags with the cheek when injected by an experienced physician. It should last 6 months. Some patients have a hereditary weak orbital septum with fat protrusion that surgery would treat best. Therefore I would recommend finding a experienced in eyelids. Finally, I have been underwhelmed by eye creams, they don't really do much and you can easily spend the same amount of money as a procedure during that time.

How Does Fat Transfer Compare to Juvederm/Radiesse? Are Fat Injections Permanent?

I have an upcoming TT/lipo of thighs scheduled. I have been getting Juvederm injections around nasolabial folds for almost two years and had Radiesse injection around cheekbones once over a year ago. I am almost 40 yrs old. I am considering doing fat transfer. Will I get similar results to Juvederm/Radiesse? Are there potential issues I should be concerned about?

A: Fat transfer to nasolabial folds

I would especially recommend trying fat transfer in your case because you are already getting the fat taken out, don't waste it! Be advised that fat has to be overfilled, so your face will be swollen for several weeks. It also may not all survive so you might still need to get fillers injected in the future. Uncommonly nodules or other visible or palpable irregularities may occur with fat injection.

What Is Typical Alar Base Reduction Healing Time?

I'm about to get an alar base reduction and I was wondering what the average healing time is? I'm concerned because I have about 8 days after I get surgery until I have to return to work and I'm worried that the scars will be noticeable. I read that stitches come out after 5 days. At what point will covering the scars with makeup will be permissible? Thank you.

A: Nostril scars after Alar surgery

Recovery time for cosmetic surgery is often limited by the patient's need to return to work soon.  After the stitches come out in 5 days, I usually have patients use ointment for 1 more day to optimize repithelialization of the suture openings.  Then I would recommend Oxygenix makeup, which is the only makeup designed to allow the skin to breathe and contains nutrients to enhance healing. You can start using it 7 days after surgery (and even sooner after laser).
