Dark Spots After Fraxel Treatment for Acne Scars... Help?

Hi, In March I had my fourth Fraxel treatment on acne scars from the palomar Starlux 1540 laser. I had had Fabulous results until the last one. about 8 hours after the treatment I started developing blisters on both cheeks and my skin was a lot more red and swollen than the first 3 treatments. When the redness started to fade away I noticed some pigmented spots on both cheeks which were not there at all before. I have very fair skin, however I do have some native american history. What to do?

A: dark spots after laser

I agree with Dr. Wasserman. See your dermatologist and they will decide whether a bleaching cream would be the best way to go. This is not unusual and usually does resolve with little or no treatment.  Also, SUNSCREEN every morning and anytime you are out.

How Should I Wait For Fraxel Laser After Using Accutane?

Hello!I am 17 years old and I am from Romania.I've been on accutane for 9 months(severe acne):2 months-30mg/day 1,5 months 20mg/day 1,5 months 10mg/day and the last 4 months 20mg/week.After that treatment I finally get rid of my acne but now there is a problem with my scars. I want to know how long should I wait for doing Fraxel Laser treatment.I read here that I should wait at least 6 mounths before any laser treatment, but my accutane dossage for the last 4 months was 20mg/week.Thank you!

A: laser after accutane

As the others have said, I think that it is standfard procedure to wait at least six months to get the best results from you laser.

Does Fraxel Get Rid of Age Spots or Does It Just Make Them Fade?

I have age spots on my arms which react to self tanning lotions -they go orange. I am thinking of having them treated with Fraxel. Will they go completely or just fade- if the latter, will the self tan lotions still pick them out and leave orange spots on my arms ?

A: Fraxel vs age spots

A fraxel laser can help with age spots with several treatments. A better treatment (not guaranteed for total removal) often used either IPL,YAG,or Q-Switch wavelength give a more even treatment for age spots. Your skin type, general coloring, extent of sun based age spot damage drives your results. For many men and women, the completion of a laser age spot removal plan will mean that results are more or less permanent.

Caution, however, that if you go back to heavy douses of sunbathing, then you’re creating the necessary conditions to cause the return of age spots. Another deep risk is that sun damage and extensive tissue damage may trigger the onset of skin cancer. Birth marks, as another case of hyperpigmentation which can be dramatically reduced. However, they can begin an incremental return after several years.
