Before & after uploading rules

Posting patient photos on RealSelf is easy. All we ask is that you follow some simple rules

  1. Only submit photos that reflect your personal work administering a medical treatment or procedure.
  2. Obtain appropriate patient consent prior to uploading photos on RealSelf.com.
  3. Do not upload photos of minors (under age 13).
  4. No more than two photo files may be uploaded in a single submission.
  5. Each submission may contain photos of only one patient with a maximum of two views of before and after images (e.g. before and after side view and before and after front view).
  6. Submissions must depict the patient both before treatment and after treatment and show comparable views of the patient before and after treatment (e.g. if side and front views of the patient before treatment are shown, side and front views of the patient after treatment must be shown).
  7. Promotional materials, such as patient testimonials, special offers, or conjecture regarding patient satisfaction may not be pictured or described in photo submissions.
  8. Photos of poor quality or resolution may not be published. Ensure all photos are in focus and utilize brightness, contrast, color, and lighting in such a way as to create an easily discernable image.
  9. Photos should be square or rectangular in shape and should not be surrounded by a border or mounted on a decorative background.
  10. Don't repeat information about you or your practice that may be found in your RealSelf profile.
  11. Use first-person tense in photo descriptions.
  12. Comply with RealSelf policies, guidelines, and terms of service.
  13. Photos and photo file names, titles and descriptions must not reveal unnecessary Personally Identifiable Information (PII) of the patient depicted, such as the patient's name or physical features unrelated to the procedure. RealSelf may take action to block extraneous PII from photo submissions.
  14. Crop or edit photos to remove unnecessarily exposed genitalia or breasts. RealSelf may take action to block extraneous genitalia from photo submissions.
  15. Do not airbrush or otherwise digitally enhance photos.
  16. Watermarks should be limited to the contributing physician's name, business name, or business logo and should not include a URL (.com, .org) or obstruct the results of the procedure depicted.
