On 6/29/22, a large silastic polymer chin implant was inserted via an external incision. I observed facial paralysis but assured it would be resolved 3 months post-op. At 6 months, my smile was still terrible but told it was due to due to weak mentalis muscle & kissy face exercises would resolve this. Currently, my smile looks like it did in my 6-month post-op pics. Would removing my implant return my smile to normal or is the continual paralysis due to nerve/muscle damage?
Looking to improve facial shape and symmetry. Would I benefit from a chin implant? Ive tried chin filler and does not work for me. I had a tumor on my right parotid gland and my face has never been the same since. Half my face was paralyzed for about 6 months. I couldnt use my right jaw to chew etc... and the area where the tumor was left a depression. Not looking for perfection, just as much symmetry as possible.
Before I got a 5mm implant, my chin used to dimple when I closed my mouth but after it didn't dimple at all no matter how much strain I put on my lips. My chin felt tight and muscle felt clumped almost like it was paralyzed (my chin wasn't numb just felt a bit sensitive). It didn't go away after a few mos so I got the implant removed but my chin still feels weird. My doc said that I should wait more but is there any scenario where the muscle or nerve is damaged &results in something like this?
hi, i had chin implant because the doctor suggested to do it with mini face lift, even though i had a good chin, anyway after surgery i had crooked upper right lip, after 2 months i asked to remove my chin, and it is 1 month that he has removed it and i have my lower lips crooked , even worse. please please am i paralyze for ever or the right motion and look will come back?? he says it will take 6 months, but who know if he is telling the truth!!!!!!!!
I had neck lipo and a chin implant 3 weeks ago. The right side of my bottom lip feels paralyzed. It won't move at all. Everything that I have read says that the lip funtion will return. I know that it will heal slowly, but shouldnt I see a little improvement after 3 weeks? It feels like the muscle on the right side of my chin just won't move at all. When I smile, the left side moves down, and the right side doesn't move, which makes my smile look very crooked. Will I just wake up one day and be able to move it a little?I just want some kind of sign that it is not permanently damaged. I am really worried. I read that it will heal at 1 mm a day. So after the entire nerve has healed will it start to work, or will it work a little as the nerve is in the healing process?I am a little confused. I hope you understand what I am asking. Thank you. This picture was a few days after the surgery. It doesnt look any different after 3 weeks other than some of the swelling has gone down.
I had a recent chin implant replacement in feb & it ended up falling down below the jawline on the left side, the doctor did a revision 5 weeks later & I'm having even more issues. numbness & limited movement of lower lip on left side but then, another issue popped up which appears to be a bulging muscle on the other (right) side. It's sticking out when I smile, causing me to look even MORE distorted I am attaching a picture of the muscle which is also now accompanied with a large dimple.
6 months ago, I had chin implant surgery. A week after surgery my right mental nerve became paralyzed due to excessive swelling/inflamm. The sensation gradually started to return but 2 days ago it was removed due to uncomfortableness and the sensation on my lip not fully coming back. Now that it's out, the sensation has slightly improved but my lip is still sensitive upon touch and I feel odd sensations on my right cheek when chewing. Now that it's out, will and when my symptoms improve? Thanks.
I had a small chin implant placed through a small incision in my mouth 7 weeks ago. When the bandage came off 5 days later, I was shocked to see that the left side of my lip was paralyzed. While it has shown some improvement, it is far from functional. My lips look extremely asymmetrical, with my left side substantially smaller and more receded than the right. I had numbness on the left side also, but this is mostly gone. Have any physicians seen improvement after 7 weeks?
