I am relatively young (26 years) and weight lift 4-5 days a week. I want to get a breast reduction (I have large D, almost DD, sized breasts and would like to go down to a B). How long it would take to return to lower body work outs? Specifically i am wondering about exercises where weights are held at your side (e.g. lunges), machine assisted workouts (e.g. leg curls, leg press). If you are not straining your chest, is it possible to return to these activities before the recommended 4-6 weeks?
Hi I have read that you are not allowed to do any weightlifting for 6 weeks post-surgery. My question is does this include lower body weights like a seated leg press where the lower body is isolated from the upper so no muscle contraction occurs above the waist? Regards Beth
Hello! I am getting a breast lift and slight reduction in two weeks (and am very excited!). However I was wondering how long I would have to wait to start weight lifting again, for lower and upper body (assuming that healing and recovery all goes as planned). Ive read some questions about this on RealSelf, however most of them include implants which I know makes things more difficult when easing back into weight lifting. Thanks in advance!
59 year old fit and healthy female. Job requires lifting 5 lb - 40 lb packages from pallets to chest level shelving. (40 lbs is a rarity). I know every recovery is different, but can someone please give me an estimate as to how long I'll need to wait so as not to risk damage or incision rupture? Can I lift 5 lbs right away? 10 lbs? 20 lbs? Thanks!
I am 5'4 and weigh around 185 lbs. According to the Schnurr formula, I would have to have 500g from each breast removed for insurance consideration. My cup size varies from DD to G, depending on the bra manufacturer. I lift weights and have a fair amount of pec muscle. What can I expect after 500g removal? I am aiming for what I think is a full B or small C cup (see Goal Size pic).
I had Breast Reduction surgery on Aug 19. I was instructed not to lift more than 5 lbs. for 5 weeks after that. While sitting in my office chair, I've been pulling (& pushing) an ~35+lb box back-&-forth out from under my desk, sliding it along the floor, pulling it towards me. Does pulling (or pushing) a heavy box along the floor like that while seated in a chair count as lifting more than 5 lbs??? If so, what are the potential problems of doing that???
