Do You Believe In Natural Breast Augmentation?

Vienna doctor claims natural breast augmentation is possible with stem cells. "Typically an enlargement of the breast by one or two cup sizes can be obtained. The implanted volume of stem cell concentrated own-fat will be almost completely preserved."

I'm not a believer in other claims of natural breast augmentation like breast enhancement gum, so I'll have to check with some plastic surgeons whether they believe this is possible.

Superspecialists The Future Of Cosmetic Surgery?

Dr. Robert Kotler, a Beverly Hills cosmetic surgeon, recently joined our fast growing professional community.  Dr. Kotler has contributed great content to the RealSelf community, including sections of his book The Essential Cosmetic Surgery Companion.

When I connected with Dr. Kotler on a call earlier this week it gave me an opportunity to ask him whether the economy was having an impact on cosmetic surgery practices.  He confirmed that certain markets were undergoing big declines in demand for aesthetics, especially those hard hit by the real estate market (such as Florida).

Mixed Reviews Of TITAN

Our readers don't think TITAN Skin Tightening works very well, but I just read the blog of a woman over 60 who said that if you combine it with liposuction it works on parts of the body that people think nothing can be done for, such as elbows, knees and arms. Now I don't believe I will ever have those parts of my body worked on (I only have so much capital available for self-investment), but if I wanted to wear a bathing suit, or if I had lost a lot of weight, I'd say this procedure, or combination of procedures, is worth looking at.

Thermage Cellulite Product Is Shipping

It's March, and Thermage has begun shipping the special tips doctors need to do the cellulite procedure on the body, just as the company predicted. Up until now, Thermage has been primarily used for tightening the skin on the face, but the company has tested its technology and  found a way to use it for cellulite.

The procedure supposedly noticeably reduces the appearance of cellulite after just a single treatment. The treatment tip and procedure are the result of 21 months of clinical and technological development and use the FDA cleared ThermaCool(R) system for the temporary improvement in the appearance of cellulite.

I was curious how Thermage works, so I did some research. It's not a laser. Its a radiofrequency that heats the tissue underneatht the skin and supposedly builds collagen. I must admit it worked on the face of the one cosmetic surgeon I saw who tried it on himself. He looked visibly younger. I'm not sure how long the results last, but if you read between the lines of the marketing material, perhaps six months. The ThermaTip CL and cellulite procedure by Thermage incorporate the Company's patented monopolar capacitive radiofrequency technology. The advanced deep heating ThermaTip CL rebuilds collagen connective tissues and improves blood flow to the tissue helping to smooth the appearance of the skin's surface.

Smart Lipo Studies Don't Show Better Results, Says Wall Street Journal

There I was on the airplane this morning reading a copy of the Wall Street Journal that had been donated to me by the guy next to me, who probably did not read the first article that drew my attention: "Body of Evidence: Popular Laser Treatment to Remove Fat Draws Skepticism." I can't give you the link to the article, because you have to be a subscriber to read it online, but I will summarize it for you:  SmartLipo is merely a marketing ploy to get people interested in liposuction again. This from the editor of the monthly Journal of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.

Apparently, patients have been avoiding liposuction in droves for less invasive treatments, especially since traditional liposuction involved general anaesthesia. So some surgeons have thus invested in a Cynosure laser, which melts the fat and allows it to be sucked out through smaller tubes. However, yet another form of lipo, tumescent lipo, can also be done with a local anaesthetic and -- because it's on closeout because it's not this year's model (just a joke)--can be thousands of dollars cheaper. 100% of our readers thought tumescent liposuction was worth it, too.  In contrast, 74% of our community members thought SmartLipo was worth it.
