Deep folds such as the “parenthesis” that develop around the mouth and nose are best treated with dermal fillers (gel-like materials that are safe to use in the skin). There are many types of dermal fillers—Juvéderm and Restylane are among the most commonly used. Dermal fillers are effective at lifting deep folds and filling deep furrows.  They can also be used to replenish mid-face volume loss by restoring volume in the cheek areas.
