David Amron: Liposuction is a surgical procedure, also known as liposculpture, which is to target areas of genetic disproportion of fat. This is my views about liposuction surgery, and I utilize it in my practice solely for that. It's not a procedure to lose weight and to get in shape. Of course those are important things, but that's the patient's responsibility.
Liposuction surgery is a procedure done using certain instruments called cannulas between the skin and the muscle layer to very precisely and artistically contour areas of the body to create a well-balanced, proportionate body for each patient. The results are permanent. The fat does not come back in those areas.
In my practice, I use a variety of techniques to accomplish it, either traditional liposuction under tumescent, local anesthesia where you're conscious, or laser-assisted liposuction in certain areas and certain patients to get even more precise improvement and better skin tightening and retraction of the skin.
