This is very important. What do I need to do before the night before I have surgery? One, no partying, no drinking, no smoking, no drugs, no alcohol. And after midnight, no eating or drinking anything unless instructed by us specifically. A person who has high blood pressure medication to take on the day of their surgery may take a small sip of water while taking their pill. But other than that there is no consumption of any food or liquids, no mints, not tums, no candies, no chewing gum. Absolutely nothing by mouth.
