Mommy makeover is a colloquial term, jargon term. It's not a medical term. It's used to describe the procedure most often found post-pregnancy and that is a lower abdominal panniculus or a little apron of fat and skin that hangs below the belly button in addition to sagging breasts. Now if you study your breast anatomy you'll learn that there is a relatively acceptable distance, position of the nipple-areolar complex from the sternal notch. Sternal notch is where the collar bones meet. From there to the nipple is about 21 to 22 centimeters. Anything more than that usually indicates that the nipple is ptotic or sagging and may in fact point down. With a mommy makeover, the ravages of pregnancy, the lower abdominal panniculus and the sagging, ptotic breasts are treated simultaneously. That refers to a breast lift or a mastopexy and a tummy tuck, possibly with liposuction of the hips and the flanks.
