What is liposuction? Liposuction is a mechanism by which a surgeon removes fat from certain undesired areas in the body. The most common areas that the plastic surgeon removes fat from are abdomen - in the women who has not had pregnancies - hips, outer thighs, inner thighs, inner knees, anterior knees - by someone who truly knows what they're doing. Ankles are a very unusual area, but if they're done by a surgeon with experience, they can be very thinning. The neck is an excellent area for liposuction. Upper back, mid-back, upper arms, and for some people who have a hump on the back of their neck, referred to as a buffalo hump, that also can be removed by liposuction.
