Dr. Edward Bednar: What we're going to offer her is radio frequency. Now Viora is the particular type of radio frequency device that we use. That radio frequency device that actually covers three different levels and depths at three different energy levels and three different frequency levels. Now that's the technical side of it.

But all you got to know is that basically unlike any other technology in radio frequency, this one we find to really accomplish a decrease in the thickness to the fatty layer and in improvement in the tightness to the skin. Decreasing that elasticity which occurs with so many ladies in the post pregnancy era.

Now this radio frequency modal isn't just for post pregnancy. It can be used for any kind of skin tightening process in any kind of circumferential reduction process, and even a component for cellulite. So keep in mind it's not just for specifically for here, but this is a frequent problem that we see. And really you've not done too badly. It's not a lot of skin laxity here that she would suggest that she use an abdominoplasty.

But there's enough laxity there if we could tighten the skin up, I think she'd be quite pleased. Also there's a thickness here that even though she's been good about diet and exercise, it's a little more stubborn than it used to be and that's part of that metabolic changes that occur following a pregnancy. The application process we're going to do is treat this zone right through there for you. And we may come around here and do this too as well. But for demonstration purposes, what we'll do is we'll stick to this area right here, and again, this is not an uncommon thing we see, and quite frequently ladies, and they're quite pleased.

So I'm really hoping as I said before you find the experience to be beneficial. What we're going to do is do about a minimum of eight treatments. And we'll use a protocol, that basically as I said, it helps to melt some of the underlying fat when your natural body's lymphatic system will carry it away. It helps to increase the collagen synthesis in the skin and help tighten that skin up. The protocol that we're going to use is we're going to apply a little bit of glycerin to this area to help the mechanisms to slide a little more easily over her skin. And then what we'll do is begin treatment. That's not too cold is it?

Diana: No.

Dr. Edward Bednar: That's nice and warm. We take a temperature measurement of the skin, and we want to bring it up to operating temperature of about 39 to 42 degrees, because part of the mechanism of the stimulation is obtaining the heat, and maintaining the heat in the area we're treating. As Kim fires that, she's got like three pulses that she's firing, and you see the skin gets drawn up a little bit into it, and that electrical current is fired through there. In addition to just an electrical current passing through there, you also get a magnetic polarization. So part of what we're really doing is jostling the cells an kind of getting them to behave a little bit more productively and protect themselves a little bit more. So maintaining a very nice even temperature throughout the treatment.

How comfortable are you Diana?

Diana: I'm comfortable.

Dr. Edward Bednar: Now what you'll feel is kind of a gentle feeling of warmth in that area. If it gets too hot for you, just let us know, okay?

Diana: Okay.

Dr. Edward Bednar: Sometimes as I said with time you're going to feel that heat build up. It's almost like a little bit of a message, just the lymphatic system is being stimulated. Now we'll tell patients that a liter of water a day is what you should be doing in your fluid intake, regardless, but also about a liter in a half, maybe even before you come in for a treatment. That just helps the lymphatic system gear up enough take away the dissolved fats that occur with the circumferential reduction. Also give the body the nutrient it has to begin that healing process.

Well Diana just finished up her first treatment and so I wanted to know, was it tolerable?

Diana: It was tolerable. It felt kind of like a suction cup and it was warm, but not like burning or anything. And then I feel nothing now.

Dr. Edward Bednar: A lot of people I think over a period of time after they get some treatments they actually look upon it as kind of a nice little warm message after a while. But, we're going to do a treatment regimen for you about every 10 to 14 days [inaudible 000:04:11] there. And I think at that after about eight treatments you're going to be able to see a substantial difference. And what we'll do is we'll get back here on camera and describe exactly what we've been able to find.

Diana: Okay.

Dr. Edward Bednar: All right.

Diana: Sounds good.
