Plastic surgery for men covers a variety of different procedures, and I will basically talk about the ones that are the most common.
First of all, a lot of men, as we tend to grow older, notice our metabolism tends to slow down a little bit. So even though we continue to eat well and exercise, we can get kind of areas of problem fat that aren't really treatable with our changes in diet and with our changes in exercise regimen. So sometimes men are looking for a little bit of liposuction. And liposuction can be very helpful in those regards.
Liposuction is basically designed to remove fat in those problem areas. It's done while you're completely asleep, which is the safest way to do it. And it usually takes about an hour to an hour and a half. Most men are interested in liposuctioning their abdomen, and some are also interested in liposuctioning their chest. And both of those can be done while you're asleep here at the surgery center.
You wake up in our recovery room, our nurses take care of you while you're waking up, and after about a half hour or so somebody from your family, or one of your friends needs to drive you home. Most men will take about five to seven days off of work or their regular activity, and it's also good to take about a month off of exercise.
We'll see you in the office after one week, then one month, then several months after that to make sure you're doing well. One week before your surgery you'll meet with our nurses at your pre-operative visit and they'll spend time with you going over everything in detail, talking to you about the surgery, and the medications, and the activities that you can and can't do around surgery, and answering all your questions so you're ready for surgery.
