Patients who come in to see me for ear reconstruction are interested in one of three things. The first are patients who have been born with large ears and that are sticking out. They are usually interested in having these pinned back. The second reason for ear reconstruction are patients who have had gauges in their ears or other piercings that have caused large lobes to their ears and these need to be reconstructed. The third reason is for patients who've had trauma to their ear. This can be wrestlers or patients who were involved in boxing and they've gotten either a laceration or punched in the ear, and then those need to be reconstructed.
