Nipple unevenness in breasts is the norm, not the exception. So many times women come to see me and they want to have an augmentation or they want to have a breast procedure and they've never had anything done and they always assume in their own minds that their bodies must symmetrical. I don't think it's something that anyone has ever really told them. It's just something that we innately feel. If you do split studies where you take one half of the face and superimpose it on the other side of the face, you will invariably look different and it's not only true for our face, it's true for the rest of our body. One arm is always longer than the other. When you go to get a pair of slacks hem, one leg is always longer than the other, whether it's because the leg is longer, the pelvis tilts a little bit differently, spine has a little bit of curvature to it. It's the same with the breasts. One breast is always little bit longer than the other. One nipple is always a little bit off if you draw a perfect triangle to the other.

The first thing that has to happen is that a woman has to understand that she is not symmetric and they always assume in their own minds that their bodies must be symmetrical. I don't think it's something that anyone has ever really told them. It's just something that we innately feel. Tell them that what an implant is going to do is that it's going to magnify the way their breasts look. They are much more accepting it. If one nipple is really far off than the other, then moving a nipple is possible surgically but for everything that we get in the operating room, there is a price to pay for it and that price, amongst cost and time and all the other things, the biggest cost really is the scar that's involved long term to produce that change. It's important that a woman understands that she has to give something to get something.

Asymmetrical Nipples? It's Actually More Common Than You Think

Dr. Paul Vitenas explains that many women take issue with their asymmetrical nipples, but they're actually more natural than they think.
