Ultra Femme 360 is a nonsurgical treatment that uses radiofrequency (RF) energy to help restore the function, appearance, and sensation of the entire vaginal area. The RF works by delivering gentle heat that helps tighten the underlying collagen and supportive tissues of the vagina, urethra, and bladder. It also produces an increase in blood flow that boosts vaginal moisture.

“The procedure is safe, effective, and produces vaginal tightening, increased lubrication, increased support for the bladder (so it helps with stress urinary incontinence), and rejuvenation of external genitalia,” says Dr. Melissa Chiang, a dermatologic surgeon in Spring, Texas, in a RealSelf Q&A.

The Ultra Femme 360 treatment is pain-free, says Dr. Kimberly Evans, an OB-GYN in Sugar Land, Texas. “Many of our patients describe the external part of the treatment as a warm-stone massage and the internal part like having a transvaginal ultrasound.”

The treatment is very popular with patients, according to doctors on RealSelf. “I’ve yet to see a patient who did not feel and see a result even after their first treatment. The labia are often reduced in size and more youthful-looking,” says Dr. Jennings Staley, a physician in San Diego, in a RealSelf Q&A.

You’ll see optimal results about three months after a series of three treatments. “This is the time it takes to generate new collagen,” says El Dorado Hills, California, physician Dr. Cheree Dunbar in a RealSelf Q&A. “After the initial three treatments, one treatment a year is recommended, to help maintain the results.”

Pros

  • Ultra Femme 360 addresses changes to the vaginal area caused by childbirth, menopause, and the aging process.
  • The procedure is fast, requires no downtime, and produces immediate results.
  • The area is numbed, so you shouldn’t feel any pain.

Cons

  • Though improvement is seen after one session, three treatments, spaced one to two weeks apart, are recommended for full results—and you’ll need yearly touch-up sessions to maintain them.
  • You may not be able to have this procedure if you have an IUD. Check with your provider.
  • Energy devices like the Ultra Femme 360 are not yet FDA-approved for nonsurgical vaginal rejuvenation, which means their safety and effectiveness haven’t yet been studied for this purpose. But all doctors we spoke to still consider them to be safe and effective options for addressing symptoms like vaginal dryness, looseness, and urinary leakage.

Treatment time is short, usually less than 10 minutes. The vagina is numbed internally and externally, so you won’t feel any pain. You may, however, feel a warming sensation.

A water-based gel is applied to the skin of the labia area and the mucosa of the vagina. During the internal treatment, your provider moves the device back and forth throughout the length of the vaginal canal. The disposable tip of the device emits pulses of RF energy that penetrate the deep layers of the tissue, to stimulate the production of collagen. Occasionally, there may be a slight “hot spot” while having the treatment, “but a trained provider will be able to manage the energy and move to a different area so that the treatment is very tolerable,” says Dr. Dunbar. The process is then repeated on the outside of the vagina.

ThermiVa takes about half an hour, versus about eight minutes with Ultra Femme 360. Both tout no downtime. However, Thermiva has a slightly higher “Worth It” Rating from RealSelf members.

There’s no recovery or downtime after an Ultra Femme 360 procedure, so you can return to your normal activities immediately afterward.

The treatment can cause some short-term internal swelling, but doctors on RealSelf say it’s OK to have sex the same day. In fact, “patients often say this gives a heightened sexual experience, due to the transient post-treatment vaginal engorgement,” says Dr. Victoria Manning, a physician in London, in a RealSelf Q&A.

Generally, there are no side effects with Ultra Femme 360 treatment. “A few patients have described some sensitivity in the area and mild discomfort with urination. This is more common in older individuals. Some patients report urinary urgency for a day. All these symptoms are very mild and go away within a day or two,” says Dr. Olga Bachilo, a plastic surgeon in Bellaire, Texas, in a RealSelf Q&A.

If you do experience a superficial burn, the vaginal mucosa heals very well, says Dr. Chiang.

  • Average Cost:
