I had a tt with horizontal and vertical scar. The vertical scar is from bellybutton to horizontal scar. I knew I would need small vertical as I didnt have a ton of excess skin and I was ok with that, but then I ended up needing a long vertical. Ive never experienced weight loss (Im 54, 140 lbs, very fit). Under what circumstances does a thin person also need the vertical?
I have my full tummy tuck done 5 weeks ago with a vertical scar that doesn't seem to heal. Now it's scabing over, my plastic surgeon said it will fall off by itself but I'm scare of necrosis. I'm seeing him in 2 days and will ask for wound debribement. Should I be worried? It is completely dried and the scab seems to get smaller as the week goes by.
I'm interested in a tummy tuck. If I'm not a candidate for the FDL tummy tuck and get an extended TT, could my previous vertical scar be removed? Thank you. PREVIOUS SURGERIES: Lapriscopic hysterectomy Open ab surgery to repair tear during hysterectomy Large incisional hernia/AWR with mesh x2 (first surgery for hernia failed)
Famale, 58, full TT with abdominal repair. I had a full TT about 1.5 ago followed by lipo 6 months ago. I have this shelf above the scar. My plastic surgeon said this was due to my anatomy and the skin being thicker on top than bottom. Im wondering if there is anything that can be done to fix it or if Im fated to have to look as bad before I had the TT. The surgeon is well regarded in the area. I didnt have much loose skin hence the small belly button vertical scar.
As a result of about 15 lbs of weight loss, I have some loose and crepey skin on my stomach above and below the naval. I am currently 5'4 and 112 lbs. The Board Certified PS I saw said he will have to create a new belly button and the scar will come from sewing up where the old one was. I was all for it until he told me that. This is in addition to the regular tummy tuck scar. Why is this and is there another way?
Ive been using scar guard and tape and sometimes Mederma oil on the verticals scar but Im wondering if there is another option to lighten and flatten this faster?! Vacay in less than 2 months and I want to make this look better before then. Im 3.5 months post op.
Ive written in regarding possible liposuction and thank you to all the doctors who responded. Im now considering a tummy tuck because want a predictable outcome. I really dont want to take the chance with lipo and be left with loose skin only to have to have another surgery. Ive have 3 consultations and everyone mentioned a vertical scar, plus the traditional TT scar. Why would I have the extra scar if my skin laxity is less than the typical TT patient. Im 5, 101 lbs, no stretch marks
I would like to get my procedure in July/Aug. in the U.S.. At first I wanted a MMO. Through virtual consult I was advised to do the procedures separately due to extent. One PS suggested a Fleur De Lis but I don't want the vertical scar. Another PS suggested a 360 for the skin on my back. I'm open to either 360 or extended, preferably drainless. Are drainless TT more costly? Would 360 be better over an extended to avoid dog ears? Do I need a Fleur De Lis? Is a reconstructive PS best?
Hello I was in a major car accident. I had 4 tears in my intestines and I was opened up and left with a big indenting scar down my whole abdomen. I was wondering if a tummy tuck could possibly rid me of the scar? There is so creams or laser treatments that can get rid of this scar it is like carved into my stomach. Thanks for any help!
I have seen pictures of tummy tuck after photos and been concerned by the small vertical scar I see in some along with the expected horizontal scar. Are these scars a normal part of the procedure or due to some other type of repair? Also, are there always scars around the belly button and why are these so hard to see in the after photos while the horizontal ones are so pronounced?
