My surgeon says to just clean with saline and apply bacitracin for now. I have heard that silvadene is good for necrotic skin. I want to know do I keep the wound moist or do I let it dry out? And is it safe to apply silvadene while its still closed or wait until it opens? Or are there any other suggestions as to care for it? (Non smoker, non diabetic, had six 1 hour sessions in hyperbaric chamber)
This wound showed up several days after surgery. I've been putting silvadene (sp?) on it, cleaning it with iodine. Last night I put xeroform medicated gauze on it then switched to medicated honey and covered it with a small gauze . I had SX in the Dominican and can't get an answer from my actual surgeon. The wound isn't ozing it doesn't have a smell. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
im having a real hard time understanding neucrosis. not the cause of it but the treatment of it. my doc noticed it the DAY AFTER full abdominalplasty. condition worsened over 3 weeks. I was on oral antibiotics and sylvadine cream. 3 weeks later, it was so bad, and got debrided by p.s.. within 48 hours I was flown out .. wound vac placed on. was hospitalized for 17 days.needed skin graft. I am horribly scarred and wondering what a doctor should do once they notice skin neucrosis.. someone help!!!
I am 27 days post tummy tuck. Here is a photo of my incision. I'm concerned about the pale yellow places. Those spots were originally more like scabs. Now they look like pus, but are firm and do not wipe off. I've been usng silvadene on the areas twice a day since my one week post op appointment with ps. At 3 weeks, my ps was unconcerned about the areas and just said to continue with the silvadene dressings. At that time the areas were still drier looking - like scabs. No pain or fever.
