Since I have to get off birth control for my surgery is there anything I can take to help balance my hormones naturally? I am worried I will be really moody and my acne will come back because of the fluctuation and drop in hormone levels.
I am having tummy tuck surgery next week and I keep hearing there can be quite a lot of swelling, which of course I expect. I take aldactone 100mg a day for hormonal acne - my doctor says it is fine to continue through surgery. Wondering if it will help me retain less fluid in the days and weeks post surgery? TIA.
I've been seeing a lot of posts in a Q&A section of the site regarding hormone therapy for before and after cosmetic surgery. What is that all about? Are there any resources that you can share?
I understand that weight gain after TT/ Lipo should be avoided but if it does happen can someone shed some light on these questions? 1) Can, ever NEW fat cells be created, duplicate (i.e 1 fat cell becomes 2) making the total number higher? 2) Can, ever fat cells (new or old) migrate or move throughout the body? 3) The weight gain in the new areas, does this trigger something in your hormones or something that signals your body to always deposit fat there or is it more random?
I had my peltes inserted in early April and plan on having a tummy tuck on July 6th. Will this be safe? I know being on hormone replacement therapy can be dangerous, but I suffer from premature ovarian failure, so I need it. My doctor said I should be ok, but I would like other opinions.
My PS wants my Mirena out 3 wks before surgery. It contains progesterone, not estrogen I'm getting a TT/lipo to flanks. I have researched Mirena & looked at answers on RS. I'm finding that estrogen seems to be the hormone that can increase the risk of PVT and PE; Mirena does not contain estrogen. I am going to take it out because I want to be as safe as possible and follow what my surgeon has asked, but was wondering why some say it's completely safe and others do not (like my PS). My BMI is 32 so I am also wondering if that combined with any hormone at all, is the issue?
I've been told that I must be at or near 10-15% of my quote on quote normal weight to get a tummy tuck. It's highly genetic . At age 44, with cortisol hormonal imbalances, it is hard to lose weight, period. My question is, Can I get a tummy tuck under my situation - a BMI slightly over 28? Realistically, I am not going to reach 10-15% of my ideal weight w/in my lifetime - let's get real. I've had a tummy since age 11 and have traditionally been very thin until I hit my early thirties.
Had gastric bypass in 06 kept the weight off til my son in 2011. I was a size 12 throughout my entire pregnancy the last month I just had to unbutton the top button of my jeans. w/in 3 months of having my son I gained 80 lbs diagnosed with PCOS & put on 2000mg of metformin a day lost 30 lbs and then got pregnant with my second son. I have been fighting to lost weight since then I literally speed walk 4 miles a day (some days jogging a miles then walking the other 3) leg exercises and so on.
During my recovery after a tummy tuck and another patient's recovery after a body lift, we both experienced intense increased sexual desire. I stress that this was early in recovery when the improved physical and psychological changes had not yet taken place. So I rule out the logical conclusion that our newly beautiful bodies caused increased libido in the weeks after surgery. I often have wondered if removing the fat caused a hormonal or physiological change that resulted in intense sex drive.
I am currently going through menopause and I am considering a tummy tuck and I am on hormorne replacements. I am having a lot of difficulty loosing the belly weight. Sould I wait till menopause is over? will the weight come back some were else?
