I had a septoplasty in August 2021 and even though I was told it would not change the appearance of my face, it has significantly. The area from the bottom of my eyes to around my lips is so much puffier - I used to have an oval face and now its round. I thought at first it was just swelling, but its been 2 years and its still like this. Has anyone ever heard of this happening? And is there anything that can be done to correct it?
Hi there. I recently had a septoplasty after fracturing my nose (septoplasty on November 23) so a little over 5 months ago. I know that after a surgery as invasive as this one the recovery process is long but I feel as though the swelling in my nose should be less by this point. The tip of my nose is still visibly bigger and the swelling is going down on different rates on the sides of my nose. I figured by the 6 month mark things would be close to normal but its not. Is this normal?
Hi. I need septoplasty with turbinate reduction. I have chronic allergic rhinitis. Allergies year round. My question is, would the surgery be useless or beneficial for me? Will my allergies interfere and cause turbinates to swell again? Does that make sense? Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thx
Hi! I had a Septoplasty in March 2022 and my nose has significant scar tissue. I just had my second Kenalog injection but still my nose looks horrible- round and undefined completely different than my original which I was very happy with. Im concerned my surgeon isnt giving me enough Kenalog injections given the time that I have had to live with this new nose which was under the impression septoplastys didnt change your nose! Can I see another surgeon to address this w/o surgery?
I had a revision rhinoplasty done a month ago and i discovered i have a perforated septum im the back part of the septum. Would a septoplasty help fix this problem? I heard whistling 48 hrs after having the splints removed but thought it was just from the swelling or nasal obstruction but i had a big booger come out the other day and saw some blood clots in it and did a some investgating with a light and saw the light through the other nostril
Hi, I had my septoplacty done 6 months ago. I can breath very well but my nose is still extremely swollen (Or maybe not). My nose used to be very thin before it got crooked. But now my nose is bigger than ever! I get comments on it 24/7. The doctors say its swelling. But swelling? For 6 months? And most of the swelling should have been gone til now, even if there still is swelling its probably not much. Im very frustrated and need answers
Hello, I got a septoplasty and turbinate reduction surgery in December 2021 to help with breathing. The surgeon stated the procedure would also straighten my nose. Overall, the procedure was a success. I am breathing far better and my nose bridge is straighter in my opinion. However, the shape of my nasal tip has been quite affected with one side noticably swollen and the overall shape being asymmetrical. Just wanted to ask if this type of swelling for this procedure is common ~11 months later.
First of all, I'm not really sure that a septoplasty is what I need, but RealSelf doesn't have a general or other category. I have been dealing with a mystery for about a year and a half now. I've seen 12 different doctors and none of them can figure out why my nose randomly swells up and gets red for anywhere between 5 mins and 2 hours everyday. At one point they thought I had carcinoid syndrome but a urine test ruled it out. I'm at my wit's end.
I had a Septoplasty with open reduction nasal fracture and spreader grafts as well as turbinate modification due to a deviated septum accident happened last year. 10 days after surgery Ive noticed the bridge of my nose is much wider and larger in general. Even tho Septoplasty is done internally would this still be due to swelling?
