Backstory: I broke my nose in 2006 and had surgery to reset it. I was a college kid and too lazy to go to my post op appointment and just pulled out the gauze myself. I just watched a horrifying video of internal stents being pulled out post rhinoplasty and it got my thinking... Are internal stents used on all nose surgeries? Is there any possibility that Ive had some crazy stents stuffed up my nose for 15 years? I would know, right?!
Just a quick question, I just had my cast off of my nose today and because I am unable to return to Korea to get the stent out the doctor said I could wait 3 more weeks to remove the stent inside when I can return, is this normal? He also recommend a local clinic that can remove it 2 weeks after which I am considering but feel more comfortable if its the same surgeon. What does the stent do anyways?
And to help with breathing my right nostril was blocked due to the brake 10 years ago. after stents was removed breathing was good. but i fell its blocking up agin when i look inside its not as open as the left nostril and looks like bone has moved over
I have no idea what this is, but I woke up to most of it hanging out of my nose. I thought it was mucus from surgery, so I wiped it with Kleenex and this entire thing fell out of my nose. I'm totally freaking out. What is this? I know that I had to have Spreader grafts to fix my collapsing nose. I still have my internal stents in, and go in to get them removed Monday. Called my doctor, and he seems to think it is a stitch. It does not feel like a stitch. Please tell me my surgery is not ruined!
I had a closed rhinoplasty 6 days ago and blood is still trickling out of my right nostril. There is a stent in my right nostril. The bleeding is not excessive but it is definitely fresh blood (not oozing or dry blood). Should I be concerned?
The Alar stent is a fairly new method to solve nasal valve collapse, the method involves adjusting the upper and lower lateral cartilages then relying on scar tissue to keep them in place once the stent is removed, this prevents collapse without the need for any cartilage grafts or implants, leading to a quick recovery. The approach has a very high success rate by all accounts. Do many of the rhinoplasty surgeons here use this method or have any opinions on this new technique?
im really worry about removing my internal stent after couple of days , because when I removed the gauze (the day after the Op) it was so painful , I want to know if there's any way to minimize the pain as much as possible ... thank you
