I understand that all three layers of the perforation need to be repaired. However, the perforation is a result of chronic use of cocaine that causes damage to the septum over time. If one gets surgery to repair the hole, but does not use cocaine in large amounts after, why would an occasional (once every 6 months, after everything has healed of course) guarantee another perforation? Especially if after surgery any cocaine use is followed by saline spray to rinse the irritants out of the nose.
Hello! I am 9 months post an open rhino to reduce bulbous tip and turbinates. I have had persistent pimples and commodes on the tip of my nose which i have mostly left alone. However, I have been applying some benzyl peroxide topical ointment overnight for 2-3 days and while the size of the pimples has been reducing, the tip of my nose is very red. There is no burning or irritation of the skin, just the reddness. Is it safe to use the ointment or am i damaging my nose? Thank you!
I carried groceries that were kind of heavy for 10 minutes on one occasion 11 days post-op. I guessed if I just kept my arms down at my sides and let my fingers do all of the work, it wouldn't strain me and raise my blood pressure. My blood pressure was slightly elevated, but that could've just been from the walk. I did this again 2 weeks later. Both times, I didn't bleed or bruise. Could that have delayed my healing and irritated my nose?
I had a rhinoplasty before two weeks, I feel fine no pain at all, but i had skin arritation near my nose tip and on the side. I started to use vaseline it helped, but it is really safe? And if its normal that the skin on my nose start to peel after the surgery? Thank you.
Im 35yof . A physician myself . Scared of rhino because I have bad TMJ and scared of GA and post recovery nasal packing as I cant breathe from my mouth only as this for sure will irritate my tmj. Any advice ? Thanks ! Was wondering if doing it under IV sedation might help? Also what kinda rhinoplasty Im a candidate of? Endonasal or open?thnx Should I consider non surgical rhino?
Hi, I had a rhinoplasty back in 2003. Over the past couple of years, Ive been experiencing redness and irritation where the incision/sutures were and also a big whitehead on it about twice a month. I just noticed something coming out of the skin, and its a string of a bright blue suture. Since it has been left in all this time has it been causing my problem? How can it be fixed? Would I have to have surgery again to get the red bump area removed and to remove the suture?
I have no had any surgeries or major nose trauma. My nose for some reason in this area is swollen on the outside and inside of the nostril, which is making it difficult to breath. It is very tender to the touch, and has visible red irritation. It hard to tell from the picture, but it is red on both sides.
I had surgery 10 days ago, on day 7 my cast and stitches were removed. One if my nostrils is irritated and the incision is not healing as nicely as the other ones in the columella and other nostril. I applied Neosporin to it but I feel it doesn't help much and it's a little irritated in fact I think the Neosporin irritates it more. I'm afraid It will be more noticeable in that area. What should I do to heal it and prevent bad scaring? Thanks!
