I am having rhinoplasty soon and i wanted to ask about my recovery. I read somewhere that people use hydrogen peroxide on their incisions with q-tips, to help remove any blood/crusts. Is that a good idea, how and when do i use that? Also people say to use ointment on the incision scar to help heal, what type is recommended?
I asked the doctor if I should clean it with soap and water and he was like yeah, but the incision has some scab- like skin around it and the stitches are dissolving really slowly. Ive heard doctors say to use peroxide, but Ive also heard that can slow healing.
I've been cleaning my nose with a q-tip gently inside around the tip, typically with nasal saline spray diluted with hydrogen peroxide to clean up the dried blood / crusts. I went up a little high a couple times because there was a big blood clot.. I try to be careful and gentle but I was wondering if I could possibly be damaging anything? I haven't gotten any alarming pain, bleeding or anything. My Dr. didn't really mention a q-tip but he did say to rinse with nasal saline spray.
I had a septorhinoplasty surgery done and this is my second week going. Should I use Saline or Hydrogen Peroxide to clean my nose after a septorhinoplasty? As far as I know, H2O2 is a germ killer but not saline? Thanks
Ive been advised to tape nose at night for a week. I stood in hot shower and let steam and warm water assist with tape but still have sticky spots. Tried 3% Hydrogen Peroxide and water but still there. Trying to be gentle with the bridge of nose. Thank you
I am 5 days post op Rhinoplasty and Chin Implant. most of the swelling and bruising are down. Is it acceptable to do light housework? Also, I attempted to clean my right nostril with hydrogen peroxide, very gently on the inside, not deep at all, nor close to the tip. I also applied a good amount of Neosporine. A few seconds later I got a tingling sensation in the nostril. Is there a possibility that I damaged stitches and it may impair my healing process and ultimate results...
I'm four weeks post op. I've been rinsing my nose twice every day with salt water (8 oz water and teaspoon salt, though I realized tonight I've been deviating with too much water) and then cleaning with hydrogen peroxide and applying Polysporin ointment. I also have dissolvable sutures in my nose that my doctor told me would go away over the course of 3 months. But I apparently have a strange odor that others have pointed out. No swelling, no redness, no pain, no fever, all normal. What is it?
I had open rhinoplasty a month ago. I'm happy with results. However, I'm starting to notice that for the past 2 weeks my nares alternate when I breathe. For instance today I'm breathing through my right nostril only, when yesterday I was breathing through my left. And this will last for an entire day.I'm following docs instructions rinsing with saline water and hydrogen peroxide cleaning. Clearly I'm still swollen internally but what's causing this back and forth between nostrils when I breathe?
