I'm am approx 2 years post septorhinoplasty, and the middle region of my nose seems to collapse inward, making it difficult to breathe. If I push these areas out and hold them there, I can breathe a lot better. My surgeon has stated that my septum has redeviated to my left and that he can straighten it, but he does not believe that I have breathing issues on both sides. To me, it feels like there is insufficient side support. Does this look like valve collapse (both sides) or other?
I have a very tiny indent on the right side of my nose. Its only noticeable in harsh light. Im not sure how long it has been there. Am I over thinking this or is this Middle Valve Collapse? My nose was naturally very thin, so the sides have not been surgically changed. Only dorsal hump and tip. Help?
Hi RealSelf Community, 8 months ago I underwent ablation of the inferior turbinate, septoplasty, and repair for nasal stenosis. I'm concerned about the persistent swelling in my nose. My nose looks wider than before, which my surgeon initially assured me would not be a result of the procedures. I'm including pre and post op pictures to give a better idea of the changes. Should swelling last this long? Any way to reduce swelling? The nasal valve collapse has not done anything, what to do?
Over the years my nasal bridge irregularities are getting more noticeable especially in cold weather. I have really thin skin to the point where even before my rhinoplasty the underlying cartilages could be seen. Is the only way to fix this to add grafts and increase size of nose? I want to seek consults but I just need a general outlook to help guide my in my efforts seeking a revision rhinoplasty surgeon
Male Septorhinoplasty over resected dorsal hump, issues breathing, nose shortened and thinned (not wanted). Unhappy with results. May 2023 septorhinoplasty aimed to enhance breathing and side profile, maintaining nose length and size. Post-op at 6 months, issues include nasal valve collapse, excessive narrowing, undesired length decrease, flattened bridge, altered tip shape. Result too different from computer simulation causing severe emotional distress. Seeking advice from plastic surgeons: What procedures can restore the nose closer to its original size and shape? Small or large revision? Possible to still look natural?
Hello I had functional septorhinoplasty in March of 2022. It didn't go well unfortunately. The doctor inserted spreader grafts for internal valve collapse, reduced my turbinates, straightened my septum and did a caudal strut graft. My septum has moved back to its original position, my breathing is worse . It's just a horror show. I'm having a functional revision and hopefully it will look better. What went wrong? I've enclosed a before picture. Thanks
I had fess with a rhino septoplasty 4 ish months ago. My nose has since collapsed which surgeon has admitted to, however I didn't really press as to why this happened. I had no breathing issues prior, only constant sinus infections & this is a well known ENT. He's adamant that revision should take place asap however I've heard that 1 year minimum is better so generally seeking advice as to whether such a quick revision is safe. Thanks!
I feel like the insides of my nose touch when I inhale. The right nostril closes a bit more than the left. I saw my doctor for an in person exam and he did not acknowledge that I had valve collapse. I'm starting to think I'm crazy? Can anyone tell me if this is valve collapse? I am a year post op
I had my primary rhinoplasty roughly 14 months ago..I want a revision but I dont want to address the aesthetic issues. I was left with a deviated septum that is so deviated you can see it, and nasal valve collapse on one side. I just want those two things fixed so I can breathe better. I know that will change the looks, which is fine. I just dont want to take any risks to fix purely aesthetic issues. Is that possible to only address functionality? Is it safer too?
I had a rhinoplasty done 1 year ago after a surgeon told me I needed spreader grafts for a supposed valve collapse. I have been devastated because he used my rib to change the shape of my nose without me asking for it. My nose has been projected a lot and the columella has disappeared, when I touch it it's rock hard like bone and seems like all the soft tissue are not there anymore. I have no info on what has been done and would like your opinion about what probably happened/ was removed
