Dr. Guyuron is equal parts mathematician and artist. To be an exceptional plastic surgeon, I believe you need to be both. His work reminds me of the old world master painters and sculptors during the renaissance period. He understands beauty, balance and harmony.
I consider myself to be a very picky plastic surgery patient--as picky as they come. Since I was a child, I’ve been awestruck by beauty, and as a teen, I wondered if plastic surgery could mimic nature. I'm not sure if it’s luck or 10 years of research that led me to the office of Dr. Guyuron. I spent 10 years looking for someone I felt comfortable with to revise my nose and other issues. Prior, I spent a decade flying around the country meeting every "rhinoplasty expert", "top plastic surgeon", etc. - anyone who was "the best", I consulted with.
A number of things go into to a successful procedure: vision, execution and healing.
Healing can be unpredictable, and even with the best, not everything can be predicted, especially with the nose. When the nose heals, it can have a 'mind of its own'. I think he's more critical of his work than the patients, BUT he is always willing to work with the result and does not rest until he's given it the best result possible. His integrity shows in many ways. Not many surgeons, if any, take as much pride in their work. He is meticulous in his assessments. Over the years, I also discovered Dr. Guyuron was the surgeon to other top surgeons and physicians seeking help for their cosmetic surgery woes.
If you are looking for a smooth-talking surgeon, coddling, OR someone to treat your psychiatric problems, this is most definitely NOT the surgeon for you. I also think certain patients with warped body perception may find his style frustrating, because he won't be talked (or bullied) into performing procedures he's not comfortable with. Thankfully, he did not operate on all my PERCEIVED flaws that I found on my face over the years. Less is more has been his approach with me but with an equal attention to detail. I never saw such an elaborate photography studio in my life. This studio is dedicated exclusively to his work as a surgeon. There are no lighting tricks to make before/after photos look dramatic, but rather they are crystal clear photo documentation meant to capture his work.
It could be very easy to discredit him by posting very premature post-op photos, with weird camera angles and an attached, long, exaggerated, incongruent saga. I've met many of these patients over the years, commiserating about less than stellar results until I made my way to his office. I'm sorry unhappy patients suffer. But in a few instances, I truly believe they are pinning their suffering on the wrong person, and I believe this can be unfair to an ethical doctor who has dedicated his long career to excellence.
From reading the few rogue reviews here, I have a feeling he does not suffer arrogance, entitlement, or psychiatric problems gladly. Somehow these types can be drawn to plastic surgery and are looking for that one surgeon or surgery to fix everything, and as they know, they continue to search in vain.
Finally, taste is specific. Some people like things tacky and flashy. What's exaggerated to one person might be subtle to another. Some people like refinement, subtlety, beauty and harmony. So, if the latter sounds like you, you might want to make your way to Cleveland. This surgeon's hand is the closest thing you'll find to having plastic surgery mimic nature.

Dr. Guyuron revision rhinoplasty after numerous failed surgeries. Had very thick stubborn skin. Working with thick-skinned tips takes tremendous skill and experience.

Your result is beautiful. It looks like you also had a brow lift and fat to upper lids?

Hi, no I didn't have a brow lift or fat to my upper lids. I think my upper lids are heavier as a result of age. I did have some fat to the lower lids. The area was getting hollow as result of age and an extended tear trough implant. the implants tend to thin tissue around the area over the course of years. My eyes were rounding-out semi rapidly over a period of a few years so we did fat to the lower lids.

Thanks for the clarification. Whatever it is, your eyes look much better in the after in addition to your nose, which looks impeccably repaired.

Do you mind sharing the names of the doctors that you considered having surgery with prior to dr. Guyuron? Pm me if you would rather... I wish I could go to dr. G but I can't. Your nose looks really good by the way

If you'll come back and add more information about your procedure and recovery (and maybe some before and after photos if you feel comfortable) I can add your review into the revision rhinoplasty community. :)
