Hello! I'm writing this review to detail my experiences with getting a chemical peel to correct skin issues due to acne, I hope it's found to be helpful...

I had always suffered from moderate to occasionally severe acne all throughout my teenage years, but the condition was made worse after working at an iron foundry for 5 years. Due to the humid and filthy work environment, not only was I getting uncontrollable breakouts, but they would also not heal correctly.
The blemishes left areas of pink pigmented skin along my chin and jawline. After getting a new job in a MUCH cleaner environment, I decided to take control of my complexion once and for all.

I visited Lebo Skin Care in York, Pennsylvania and scheduled an appointment with a licensed aestheticision. I first had a consultation where I expressed my concerns regarding my skin condition and was put on a proper skin care regiment. Next came the day of my peel: I was given a light Jessner peel for my first of three treatments. Kaycie (my aesthetician) lanced a few active blemishes and blackheads prior to the application of the peel. Next, my face was cleansed with a pad and the first layer of the peel was applied. I experienced a warm, tingly sensation which was mildly uncomfortable but not painful at all. After the final layer was applied, I was given my aftercare instructions:

-don't wash your face for at least 12 hours when you get home
-for washing, don't use any cleansers with acid in them (salicylic, glycolic, etc.) I used a gentle cerave cleanser from the grocery store.
-apply the salve that you receive after the peel twice a day
-limit sun exposure
-DO NOT PICK ANY SKIN THAT FLAKES OFF!!!

It is very important that the "absolutely no picking" rule is stressed as peeling off the skin on your on will cause scarring. If there are any large flakes of skin, I was instructed to gently clip them with small cuticle scissors if I wished. I started peeling 2 days after my peel and was done peeling within a week. I received a 2 more medium peels each a month apart from the last and was very pleased with my results!

Since the peels don't prevent future acne marks and just assist in undoing the damage of past ones, I get a medium peel every 4 months for my own personal preference. The light peel was $80.00 while the two medium peels were $90.00

You look great! I saw that you said you stopped peeling after about a week, is that true for all your peels? I want to get a chemical peel done but I have to work and cannot afford to take even a week off :(

Thank you! Deeper peels will have a longer peeling time, my first light peel finished after 3-4 days and my medium peels lasted closer to a week. I actually couldn't take off work either so I just toughed it out and went to work all flakey-faced :p It was a little awkward at first but most people didn't say anything and if they did ask what was going on with my face, I got to educate them about the wonders of chemical peels!

Your skin looks great! What was the medium peel that you received? Was it a TCA peel? If so, what %?

Thank you! The peel I received was a jessner peel which I believe is 14% Salicylic, lactic, and Resorcinol. I don't think the percentage of acid in the solution increases with the medium peel, just the amount of layers applied to the skin. For instance, my light peel was 2 layers and my mediums were 4.

I think the solution used for my peel was a solution of Salicylic and lactic acid at 14%. I've heard some horror stories about peels too, but that's why it's important to go to a licensed aesthetician who is experienced in performing procedures like that. People who don't know what they're doing and haven't been trained properly can cause terrible chemical burns:(
