I have hated my moles my whole life and have consulted with a number of DRs about various methods for removal. I settled on Laser Soho in NYC and radio surgery as the procedure. It's been a few days and all I can say is the MOLES AREN'T GONE. They actually look like irritated versions of their former selves and I'm $600 poorer! They are still very elevated and prominent- at first I thought the "scab would fall off" but I can see now that's not going to be the case. I will still have two raised and somewhat scarred spots that are sort of 1/2 mole-1/2 scar. Anyone have similar results? And if so what did you do?

You should at least ask the doctor/nurse who did this if it is a typical response to treatment. At the Laser Center of Maryland we have an excellent track record for laser mole removal. We have over 25 years of experience and 14 different lasers to treat and correct various skin conditions.

I don't have your answers, but as a wound care therapist I think perhaps you did not ask enough Qs about recovery time and when you would see results. Especially since you had a procedure where the moles were not EXCISED (removed), I am surprised you thought that the moles would disappear immediately. They look great after 12 days and I suspect they'll be completely gone in 6 months. Please ask more questions about what to expect. I think you'll be very happy when all the healing occurs!

I've been to lasertouch 3 times in the past 4 years all for the same two moles. While i can say that my two moles have lessoned in color, each time the bumps have grown back, and I still have to cover them up. Just like you I thought maybe the elevation would go down, when in fact they are still prominent on my face. I recently went last April in hopes of it being a more satisfactory result. Unfortunately, they grew back worse than they did in the past. It is very frustrating and I am starting to weigh my options with excision in the future.

Mole removal update

I ended up recovering the treated areas each day with triple antibiotic cream and band aids and kept it that way for a week. I'm still covering it at night. There is still one small rough patch/scab but it's mainly healed. Now it's a reddish silvery scar but it is pretty much flat. At least it's not a divot which was his goal.

Still not fully healed

Its still a dry scaly scab. I cover it each night as it seems to make it flatter the next day. When I leave it uncovered it tends to look raised within a day.

how is your scar now.. are you happy with the result now?

I had radio surgery on two moles, three times at 2 month intervals. They came back and are now slightly flatter with less pigment. Saw a dermatologist and the only way to be sure they wont come back is surgery and a good chance the scar will be worse than the moles. Anyway big moles have deep roots and its a waste of money and hassle short of going under the knife.
