I had a nasty experience with Julian Stevens. On 15th February, 2022, I had a YAG Capsulotomy Bilateral at Moorfields with Julian Stevens. I immediately had problems with my vision and informed him. On 17th March, I was diagnosed as having a detached retina in my left eye. I had emergency surgery at Moorfields on 18th March.
I contacted Mr Stevens after the surgery, and he replied on 29th March, "Your -6D myopia in each eye has significant risks of glaucoma, retinal detachment and macular degeneration: 21x retinal detachment risk relative to a normal eye…You would normally have a review consultation with myself 2 to 4 weeks post YAG procedure and the purpose of this is to check the vision, pressure and the retina."
At no time, did he earler suggest that I have a 2 to 4 weeks post-op examination, which may well have detected a retinal tear or the detachment at a much earlier stage.
From my past conversations with him, it is clear he is more interested in his substantial private businesses than patient care. He is careless and best avoided.
