One Year post Tummy Tuck. So HAPPY!!

gypsyheart01
WORTH IT$8,150
Hi everyone! Just wanted to come back with a one year update since they were so important to me when I was researching.
I feel and look great. So happy with my results!
Nit picking: my scar is still pretty prominent. This is MY choice though- Dr. G recommended I get a laser treatment to help it fade, but I decided against it. I know my scar will be white eventually, it just takes time. And I don't mind waiting.
Also, the ends at my hips don't line up perfectly. One side kind of overlaps and the other is indented a bit. I could have these fixed I'm sure, but they are not a big deal at all to me.
Weight-wise, I'm at 146.0. The morning of surgery I was 147.6 I think, and he took off 4 lbs of skin and fat, so technically, I should be at 143.6. So I weigh a bit more, comparatively, than when I did going in to the surgery. But I look and feel great in jeans, so I'm not really worried about the weight.
I would totally do this surgery again, with the same doc, and am only sorry that I waited to so long to do it!

Yeay! Thanks for updating us! I agree, the year out update is so important. I'm waiting to do mine until my embrace scar therapy comes off so I can do good pictures of the scaring. I'm in the same place you are where overall I'm happy but the scar isn't perfect and I didn't loose any weight. Looking better in your clothes is better I think! Congrats on a successful year out. =)

UPDATED FROM gypsyheart01
6 months post

oops....6 months tummy tuck update....continued

gypsyheart01
Grrr....lost a lot of my update when pics uploaded. See my previous post for all my pics.
What I LOVE: No more blubber! I can wear whatever I want now! I feel like a hot mama again!
What I don't love: My scar is pretty ugly. It has definitely faded in color over the last couple of weeks, but there are some thick areas, and you can see the "train tracks" from the sutures, especially around my belly button. I'm thinking I may just need more time than most women; my c-section scar was thin and white at the time of my TT. I'm not sure when it turned thin and white, but my kid is 6 years old, so sometime in the last 6 years it practically disappeared, so maybe my TT scar will do the same sometime within the next 6 years??? :-)
I have a tiny dog ear on the right side. I'll be sure to point it out at my follow up, but honestly, I don't even know if I'd worry about "fixing it" at this point, because it doesn't bother me too much.
I still get a bulge above my belly button, which is especially noticeable when I've eaten a large meal. I have five theories about what it could be:
1- my actual stomach organ protruding out when it's full
2- a knotted-up bunch of muscle mass where he brought my very loose muscles together
3- the fatty deposit that was on my rib (right below bra line) before my TT. Perhaps it was pulled down and is now showing itself in this new area.
4- fat from gaining 5 lbs....and this is where it deposited itself
5- the internal stalk from my belly button
This bulge is probably the biggest annoyance to me; if I'm wearing a fitted shirt, and I've had a big meal, you can see it thru my shirt! Of course, if you asked me if I'd rather have this or my old belly back, I would take this bulge, 100%. So I try not to let it bother me too much, and I'm going to work on getting those 5 lbs off, since this is the only thing I can control.
Speaking of weight- I was 147.6 on the morning of surgery. Today, I weighed.......147.6! hahaha Maybe my scales are stuck on that amount?? Doc took off almost 4 lbs of skin and fat, so that means I have gained 4 lbs. :-/ The weight is really noticeable on my thighs and face, and I know there's a little on my belly, too, because I had much more muscle definition in my abs in the weeks following the surgery when I got down to 141 lbs because of lost appetite. (Why couldn't it stay gone?) I have terrible will-power when it comes to food, so I haven't lost it, despite saying I was going to for the past 3 months. I'm going to keep it at though! The only thing I need to do is cut out all sugar and carbs....a much easier thing to say than do in my house. But I know I can, so I WILL!!! :-)
Now that my belly is fixed, I have turned my attention to something else....my boobs! Never thought I would be thinking about getting an augmentation, because I'm kind of a "natural" girl. But now that my belly is flat and I'm feeling sexy again, I dream about how great it would be to have full breasts to match. Hmmm. Hubby says he likes my "cute" little ladies, so he doesn't really want me to get implants, but I'm sure he would like some cute bigger ladies, too! :-) I really don't like the idea of having a foreign object in my body, so I would prefer the fat transfer technique. But my doc doesn't like the risks of that surgery, so he doesn't do it; and even if I did find someone reputable who does, there's no guarantee that the fat would stick. So I'll keep noodling on the idea, but I may just keep the girls as is.
I think that's all I've got for you! Let me know if you have any questions. I'm so very happy with my surgery results and Dr. Gill and all his staff. If you're thinking about a TT and you're in the Houston area, definitely give them a call!
My 6 month follow up is tmrw, so I'll come back and post if I have any major updates. Good luck with your TT journey!

even with your little weight gain, you look great! I’ve gained as well boo. as far as the scar, I actually think it looks pretty good. the incision is nice and clean. mine didn’t start really fading until 8 months-ish so give it a little time. it seemed like overnight then BAM, noticed my scar was starting to fade. I was just as worried as you though. so happy for you! good luck with your appointment!

Congrats for 6 months post op! Your scar will continue to improve, mine kind of stalled and I just ignored it and then that one year mark came and went and I realized how much I don't notice the scar. Mine stayed red forever it felt like! I think you are definitely on to something with your guesses for that bulge! I think it's a common thing on here and for most everyone it's when we have had a big meal. I think with more time that will start to go down. I also think you pointed out something too that your genetic makeup has you carry your weight in your belly. So that could be working against you too. But you look fabulous and I love the bright colored swimsuit! Let us know what your PS said about scar treatment. Oh and I am right there with you with the boobs!! I have always considered it but the whole foreign object thing stops me and my concern over losing nipple sensation...mine have gotten so small that it would be nice to feel sexy but I'm taking small and sporty for now. We have no money for boobs at the moment ...so I can just keep thinking it over :)

Ha! I like the small & sporty comment- maybe it will be the next trend in boobs, and you and I will be set! :) Thanks for the encouragement!

I just saw all your pictures, love your transformation! You look wonderful!
I feel you on the weight gain, I'm in the same boat, sugar is my weakness, so far today I haven't had any sugar and warned my hubby to watch out for my grumpiness lol
But you've got This! P.s. your scar doesn't look that bad, it'll fade with time :)

Hey how did your 6 month visit go? Did you get any answers to your questions about scars and B.B.?so happy for you . I’m also a patient of Dr Gill. ❤️

Hey! He did a Kenalog injection around the BB, which REALLY softened it up. The scar is still wide, but it's no longer knotty, so I'm happy. He said he would do another injection if I wanted it, but I think it's okay now. He also said I could get a laser treatment next door if I'd like to speed up the fading process, but I decided to just be patient. How is your experience going? I'll have to check out your reviews.....
