One Year post Tummy Tuck. So HAPPY!!
I feel and look great. So happy with my results!
Nit picking: my scar is still pretty prominent. This is MY choice though- Dr. G recommended I get a laser treatment to help it fade, but I decided against it. I know my scar will be white eventually, it just takes time. And I don't mind waiting.
Also, the ends at my hips don't line up perfectly. One side kind of overlaps and the other is indented a bit. I could have these fixed I'm sure, but they are not a big deal at all to me.
Weight-wise, I'm at 146.0. The morning of surgery I was 147.6 I think, and he took off 4 lbs of skin and fat, so technically, I should be at 143.6. So I weigh a bit more, comparatively, than when I did going in to the surgery. But I look and feel great in jeans, so I'm not really worried about the weight.
I would totally do this surgery again, with the same doc, and am only sorry that I waited to so long to do it!

oops....6 months tummy tuck update....continued
What I LOVE: No more blubber! I can wear whatever I want now! I feel like a hot mama again!
What I don't love: My scar is pretty ugly. It has definitely faded in color over the last couple of weeks, but there are some thick areas, and you can see the "train tracks" from the sutures, especially around my belly button. I'm thinking I may just need more time than most women; my c-section scar was thin and white at the time of my TT. I'm not sure when it turned thin and white, but my kid is 6 years old, so sometime in the last 6 years it practically disappeared, so maybe my TT scar will do the same sometime within the next 6 years??? :-)
I have a tiny dog ear on the right side. I'll be sure to point it out at my follow up, but honestly, I don't even know if I'd worry about "fixing it" at this point, because it doesn't bother me too much.
I still get a bulge above my belly button, which is especially noticeable when I've eaten a large meal. I have five theories about what it could be:
1- my actual stomach organ protruding out when it's full
2- a knotted-up bunch of muscle mass where he brought my very loose muscles together
3- the fatty deposit that was on my rib (right below bra line) before my TT. Perhaps it was pulled down and is now showing itself in this new area.
4- fat from gaining 5 lbs....and this is where it deposited itself
5- the internal stalk from my belly button
This bulge is probably the biggest annoyance to me; if I'm wearing a fitted shirt, and I've had a big meal, you can see it thru my shirt! Of course, if you asked me if I'd rather have this or my old belly back, I would take this bulge, 100%. So I try not to let it bother me too much, and I'm going to work on getting those 5 lbs off, since this is the only thing I can control.
Speaking of weight- I was 147.6 on the morning of surgery. Today, I weighed.......147.6! hahaha Maybe my scales are stuck on that amount?? Doc took off almost 4 lbs of skin and fat, so that means I have gained 4 lbs. :-/ The weight is really noticeable on my thighs and face, and I know there's a little on my belly, too, because I had much more muscle definition in my abs in the weeks following the surgery when I got down to 141 lbs because of lost appetite. (Why couldn't it stay gone?) I have terrible will-power when it comes to food, so I haven't lost it, despite saying I was going to for the past 3 months. I'm going to keep it at though! The only thing I need to do is cut out all sugar and carbs....a much easier thing to say than do in my house. But I know I can, so I WILL!!! :-)
Now that my belly is fixed, I have turned my attention to something else....my boobs! Never thought I would be thinking about getting an augmentation, because I'm kind of a "natural" girl. But now that my belly is flat and I'm feeling sexy again, I dream about how great it would be to have full breasts to match. Hmmm. Hubby says he likes my "cute" little ladies, so he doesn't really want me to get implants, but I'm sure he would like some cute bigger ladies, too! :-) I really don't like the idea of having a foreign object in my body, so I would prefer the fat transfer technique. But my doc doesn't like the risks of that surgery, so he doesn't do it; and even if I did find someone reputable who does, there's no guarantee that the fat would stick. So I'll keep noodling on the idea, but I may just keep the girls as is.
I think that's all I've got for you! Let me know if you have any questions. I'm so very happy with my surgery results and Dr. Gill and all his staff. If you're thinking about a TT and you're in the Houston area, definitely give them a call!
My 6 month follow up is tmrw, so I'll come back and post if I have any major updates. Good luck with your TT journey!
Provider Review
Dr. Gill and his staff have been excellent! From the first email thru every visit they have been kind and knowledgeable about my care. Getting cosmetic surgery was not something I took lightly, and frankly, I was a little intimidated to walk in to the office, since I'm not the "Barbie Doll" type (no offense to you lucky ladies who are!). I am happy to say that this was a HUGE misconception on my part; the ladies are all real and caring and accepting of every shape and size and frizzy hair style! :) Dr. Gill didn't point out my saggy breasts or thick thighs and suggest work on them as well. What he DID do, was give me an excellent incision line and natural looking belly, and for that I am forever grateful.
