I am 49 years old and have hated my saddle bag...

I am 49 years old and have hated my saddle bag thighs since I was a teenager weighing 120 lbs. OF course they've grown with age and weight gain. But they've always been there. My inner thighs rubbed together making it hard to wear shorts because they would bunch up in the crotch. During my consultation, I had three areas quoted separately: Thighs (inner and outer), Lower abdomen and flanks. After discussing with my husband and sister, I decided to do all of it. The thighs were always my biggest concern, but once those were gone I would likely regret not having all the rest of it gone too. Prior to surgery I lost 15 pounds as I didn't want to view this as a weight loss solution but rather body contouring. Well, I am AMAZED at the results. I was never even after a bikini body, but I actually do wear a bikini now. Crazy! This body transformation has done wonders for my self image. Buying clothes has been a blast. And believe me, I need all new clothes. I went from a size 12 to a size 6 or 8. I lost 12 lbs from surgery in all the right places. I am very happy and wish I would have done it sooner! So... having said all that: I will say that recovery was no joke. I'm happy to talk with anyone about what to expect, because it was more painful and lasted longer than I imagined. Perhaps having fewer areas and less quantity removed would not be as bad. I had 12 liters removed during surgery (fat and liquid) from my torso and legs. It was a lot. I'm not saying this to discourage anyone, because it's totally worth it. But just know that dramatic results do not come with an easy or fast recovery.

I had mine done yesterday. Upper and lower abs and flanks. Today I'm really uncomfortable mostly due to compression garment . Did you also notice this?

I found my compression garment to be my best friend in the beginning. It wasn't uncomfortable, so perhaps you need a different kind? I mean... my whole body was miserable, but certainly not from my garment. For me, it was more painful to have it off as my skin felt almost too sensitive for the real world. I wore it constantly for a month. And tapered down to a lighter weight spanx for an additional few weeks on and off. I was extremely uncomfortable 24/7 for 2 solid weeks. My inner and outer thighs and lower back were the most painful because they swelled the most. Since you didn't have those areas done, I bet you'll feel better much faster. Congratulations! I'm sure you'll love your results.

Thank you so much for the kind review. So glad you love your results! You are rockin' it!
Incredible transformation -- congratulations! I'm so glad you decided to share your journey with us and I know your results will inspire many. What's the number #1 piece of advice that you have to offer the community?
My #1 piece of advice is to be sure you understand your aftercare BEFORE you go in and have someone lined up to help you.
Things you can do to prepare yourself ahead of surgery would be:
1. Prepare a chart for your pain meds or have your caregiver prepare one immediately
2. Have small, low-sodium meals figured out (you do not want any additional swelling!)
3. Figure out little snacks, because some meds you should take with food, even in the middle of the night.
4. If you're not lucky enough to have a sister who is your best friend and also a nurse who happens to be off work for a few days (like I did), then I would be sure to line up someone who will be there for you. Husbands are great... mine was... but he was not prepared for the amount of care I would need and didn't really know what to do or how to make me comfortable. And I didn't really know either. Then he had to travel for work for a few days. I would not have been ok to be home alone.
Again... I had a lot of areas done, so others who do less will not have as big of a hurdle I'm sure.
Great tips, thanks so much going into such detail. What type low sodium food/snacks did you eat?
All great stuff, thanks for sharing!
