I Need Some Opinions About my Brow Lift

ORIGINAL POST

My brows dropped after I had an upper bleph...

JennaInDC
My brows dropped after I had an upper bleph performed for medical reasons (vision impairment) and I got so tired of having an angry look most of the time. Thus, I decided to see what could be done about elevating my brows.
I had the surgery in December of 2016, and I've posted a pic that shows the post-op results on top and pre-op below. I apologize for the pre-op pic lighting... I had so few pics of me front-on. If I can find one a bit brighter/clearer I'll post it later.
Anyway, I feel that my brows went from very symmetrical to very asymmetrical. We agreed to raise my brows 2-3 mm, as I dislike a very high, arched brow. My right brow turned out nicely, but the left brow is fully 5mm higher. How it was raised so much more I have no idea, and it is also pulled inward towards my nasal bridge when it was supposed to be pulled out (the doctor recommended that my brows be pulled away from the nasal bridge to further alleviate the angry look). The additional area between my upper eyelid and lower brow is significantly more, and makes my eyes look to be different sizes and shapes. Additionally, I have uploaded another pic with me looking down. You can see how the left eye remains much more open than the right, further demonstrating how much more it was lifted. Also, I've had then pulling or strained sensation above my left brow since the surgery, and when I do any motions that cause my eye shape to change (frown, etc) my eyes are different shapes. I noticed the asymmetry immediately after the surgery, and brought it up that day and the follow-up appt the day after. The doctor disregarded my concerns and said I was being too picky, and that my brows were symmetrical in the operating room.
I had my final follow up (6 month) about a month ago. The doctor told me that I'm just too picky, and that 99.9% of people would be happy with my results. He also added that if he did a revision, it's just as likely to end up worse as it is better. So--I ask all of you--would you be happy with these results? Am I just being an overly picky person? PLEASE be honest. I need honesty right now. Any thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated.
Lastly--I know I can pluck and wax. I've tried to keep my brows natural (as I did before the surgery so they could be made truly symmetrical), but I've plucked my left brow on top and right brow on the bottom to try to even them up at least a little. As you can see, I haven't plucked under the left brow as it makes it look even more asymmetrical. I feel this shouldn't even be an issue, and in any case, it wouldn't remedy the other issues mentioned above.

I am having a similar problem to yours. My left brow, which was not my problem brow, has been lifted slightly higher than my right, problem brow. Unfortunately, I wish my right brow were as high as my left because I'm afraid in a few years I will again have a droopy right overlid. Yours look a little more asymmetrical than mine. Your left brow definitely appears higher. One thing I would check is where is your brow bone relative to each brow? Perhaps your brow bone is higher on one side, and your surgeon used the bones as a guide. I don't think you're being overly picky, as it is noticeable. Unfortunately, in my case, the surgery has caused both of my lower eyelids to droop outward and no longer meet my eyeball (ectropian). Not only does this look terrible, but it causes all kinds of problems with the eyes. I am currently investigating how it might be "fixed". So, I guess you have to decide whether you can live with what you have or not, but keep in mind, if you redo, you might end up worse!

Thank you for your reply and your honesty! I think my main concern isn't as much the brow height as it is the shape of my eyes in various situations. I'm still befuddled how the plan was to do a 2mm-3mm lift per brow, which would make one assume that type of precision is "doable" and then one brow is lifted 2mm-3mm and the other is lifted 7mm-8mm. That's triple the height of the other. It was never mentioned to me that this might be a possible outcome. Instead, all that he says is the outcome is completely acceptable and that I'm just being too picky.

As for my brow bone, the middle of my right brow sites squarely on the ridge, and the left brow is completely above the ridge. I had thought the same thing some time ago and checked, but checked again to be sure. If he used anything as a guide, that wasn't it.

Good luck to you, and keep me posted as you decide what to do moving forward!

I am 7 Weeks PO u/l bleph w/canthopexy. My left lower eyelid was drooping and I wanted it repaired as well as getting my almond shaped eyes back. The drooping is worse now than before surgery and like you, m6 eyes are very uncomfortable. Dry, scratchy, watery, etc. I am now looking for an ocular plastic surgeon in the hopes it can be repaired.

By the time I was able to obtain an appointment with a specialist about my ectropian (droopy) lower lids (six weeks!), the problem had corrected itself for the most part. The specialist advised I do nothing now, but suggested that I MIGHT need surgery in the future since I have "droopy skin" (lucky me..not!)

That’s great! Thanks for the reply.

Can you upload some more pictures, perhaps with just mascara? It is difficult for me to see. I recommend going on the doctor side of this site and ask same questions. I posted a review about my brow lift. My doctor also lifted one side more, but because one side was dropping. They turned out even. He spent a lot of time marking and measuring and told me this surgery is by millimeters. Have you tried talking to your surgeon about these issues?

That was one disappointing thing. My doctor didn't discuss very much about the procedure, and prior to surgery walked in, placed three marks and walked out. He "eyeballed" it. The mark that was supposed to be in the center was off by more than one inch, and I thought about saying something but I assumed he did it for a reason. He's very flippant about the results, and I feel his lack of concern is insulting.

I'll see if I can find other photos, but I'll likely just have to take more. My brows are so uneven it frustrates me to take selfies now! Also, could you PM me your doctor's name?

yeah i can't really tell, i would need a photo that showed more of your eyebrows, these are too close. You certainly look pretty, but not sure about the brow lift, I think you might be holding your eyes open more in the after shot, but can't really tell

Wow! I can't believe that you can't see the difference. If you look at each brow nearest the inner corners of my eyes, look at how much higher the left brow is than the right. The space between the lid and bottom line of the brow is at least 3 times as much. Also, look at how much higher the top arch of the left brow is than the right when comparing it to the top of the picture.

The difference between the two pics is that I was smiling more in the first pic :-) Thanks for the compliment!

I think we all are our worst critics and had you not pointed this out I would not have noticed. what I do notice is that it appears your brows may have been this way to begin with. many times this is way people are and after a procedure things become more profound. I say this from my own experience and am actually looking to have my brows lifted and will probably feel the same. to

Hello There,
We take those routes to make us feel better about the way we look and feel. This procedure did not accomplish that and you are right and the doctor is WRONG. It is exactly what happened with me when I did the eyebrow lift. Incompetent surgeon changed it to be worse. One is up and one dropped more. Eyes look different and I do not care about others noticing it but it is enough that I notice it and I am not happy with it. I do not care if 99% of the world said ok to the results. I know myself more than anyone else and I know I will never live satisfied with it. I am having another surgery to correct and fix the issue. Good luck!
