Overpriced Laser Tattoo Removal - Winston Salem, NC

I have went to three places now to get tattoo removal treatments. I've been going for 2 years now and my tattoo is still only halfway faded. I decided to to to Carolina Laser and Cosmetic Center in Winston Salem, NC to give the new "PicoSure" a try. I am giving one star because of PRICE ONLY!!!! I went in for laser tattoo removal, using the Picosure laser. The actual treatment, took all of 30 minutes, and she even missed a corner of my tattoo, which I have documented in picture form. I was there for 2 hours. The price 'scale' was based on an 'estimate' of what a Q-switched laser treatment would cost, how many 'estimated' treatments it would take with a Q-switched laser, and then that doubled, because Picosure lasers are twice as effective. I have been getting laser tattoo removal with a Q-switched laser for a year now, and her 'estimation' of the price of one treatment with a Q-switched laser was 3 TIMES THE PRICE OF THE ACTUAL PRICE I HAD BEEN PAYING. She then DOUBLED THAT PRICE, for a WHOPPING price tag of $1727.00 for one laser treatment, of 25 sq. inches of tattoo. I have a quote from the only other Picosure laser place in the Piedmont region of NC and they charge per sq. inch (As is normal of laser tattoo removal). I will be going to that place for my remaining laser treatments.

On the plus side, the staff were all VERY polite, friendly, knowledgeable, and informative of the huge price tag. If I were a millionaire, I would frequent there often for every service they offer. Unfortunately, I am not a millionaire. :-/

What you're going through sounds so frustrating. I'm in a similar situation; I have a tattoo on my foot which I've treated 7 or 8 times with a Q-Switch laser. It's thick black lines, and the fading looks about the same as your Paul Mitchell tattoo, though the Q-Switch people told me it would be gone in 3-10 treatments. I'm hoping to start PicoSure treatment on it in a few weeks. I read that PicoSure is very good on recalcitrant (stubborn) tattoos, but I don't really know what to believe anymore. Did you see much fading after your first PicoSure treatment? Also, on an unrelated note, the cat in the last photo is adorable.

Honestly, I saw the most results from that one Picosure treatment than I did of a whole year of Q-switched laser treatments. The Paul Mitchell didn't even show any fading, whatsoever, until that one Picosure treatment. I am confident you will see results from your Picosure treatment, no doubt, but you will also pay more $$$. Going from paying 200 dollars a treatment to 1750 a treatment was just too much for me.

That sounds really overpriced considering the size of your tattoos. I'm having several HUGE tattoos treated at the moment, and am paying nowhere near $1750 a treatment. But the fading on the Paul Mitchell piece looks awesome, considering it's all from one Picosure treatment. I hope you have better luck with the new place.

Thank you for sharing your tattoo removal journey with us. I love how your cat is sleeping with you in your last photo! So cute :) Are you looking for full removal or partial to cover?

I CANNOT stress enough how GREAT this place is for PicoSure Tattoo Removal. I found this place right after they opened, and got the remainder of my treatments there. 25 sq. inches of tattoo removal for 400 DOLLARS a treatment! That price is KILLER and all the staff is nice and amazing and goes the extra mile to make you comfortable. There are literally zero wait times. You have to go 30 mins prior to your appointment for numbing (they use a numbing cream and it has to sit with saran wrap on it for that 30 mins) The aesthetician is super nice, personable, reasonably priced, and knowledgeable. She's even very meticulous as to document every visit with before and after photos, asks if you've been in the sun or are planning to be in the sun because she cares about avoiding hypo-pigmentation and writes it all in your file. I cannot recommend this place enough if not for the high quality of service and attention to detail, just for the very affordable price alone. AND I live 10 minutes from this place.

Greystone Aesthetic Center before/afters

I had my final appointment for laser tattoo removal at Greystone Aesthetic Center. They have a PicoSure Laser and charge me $400 per treatment for all of these large tattoos combined. They said that they had started waiting 6 months between treatments and the clients noticed more fading in that longer recovery time. They were nice enough to send me the before and after photos they documented during my visits there.
