Almost 6 weeks post explant

$5,000
Hi Everyone,

So I have updated a photo, I am loving the results. Healing well now. My scars will take a while to fade but generally will.

My right breast as you can see is saggier and larger. It's actually not as noctiable when looking at them in person.

Having said that, it's a simple superficial cut of the upper areolar region remove slightly more excess skin so it matches and that'll be that. I will wait the 3 months before doing anything, but I am loving the little breasts.

You look good !
Your new natural look is quite LOVELY!!!! Congrats! Thank you for the update LilyQ - it gives us all the feeling that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
You look awesome!!!
How long did you take off work after your surgery? I am wanting to do this so bad but my employer makes us use vacation time for cosmetic surgery. I had a consult with a PS and he said 2-4 weeks off. Just wondering when you felt good enough to return to work and make it through a day without pain meds...
What state nursing do you live in? That seems illegal to me.
I live in Illinois...
Have you researched if that's legal? And as far as how much time you need to recuperate depends on a number of factors like whether you will have drains put in, if there is capsule removal, if you will have general anesthesia, your age and fitness level also have an impact. Do you have a physically demanding job or is it more sedentary?
I agree with Happy, it really depends on how complex your explant ends up being. Mind was straight forward. No drains, no major contractures to take out, but had a lift and was under general. I was in pretty good shape prior to surgery. I stopped my pain meds after 3 days. And actually after day two I was just on extra strength Tylenol. The recover time is really more needed so you don't pull the stitches and risking infection and of course unpleasant cosmetic results due to too much tension on the stitches. Sorry to hear about your work not providing the time off for cosmetic surgery. I live in Canada and here work will also not provide time off for elective surgery. However if you speak to your PS or GP and ask that they leave out the reason as to why you need a medical leave some doctors will do that for this type of "cosmetic" surgery. Most work places can't demand to know what the medical reason is only that a doctor deems you unfit to work. Details as to why is not really their business. Good luck
Excellent suggestion LilyQ regarding leaving the reason out. I had my GP do that for the blood work that was needed for clearance so that the insurance would cover it. The panel of bloodwork was over $1,100 and insurance would not have covered that if the GP had written down breast explant, so we went with peri-menopausal woman having issues....LOL!
I actually work in surgery (I'm a nurse anesthetist). My job is not "physically demanding" all the time but I do push patients from surgery to the recovery room and move them from the gurney to the OR table. As far as researching legality... I've found that it seems to be legal not to pay sick leave for cosmetics.
Hi Nursing75, Yeah, generally speaking elective surgery would not be covered. May I suggest you be open with you GP and say something like you don't view this as cosmetic, so much as extremely important to you on a mental and emotional level? Getting these poisonous sacks out of us is for our health, and can be argued as such. All your GP has to say is "due to medical reasons you will need 2-3 weeks off" if after the 2 week mark you don't feel your stitches are healed enough and you are not ready to go back full force, then let your GP know. Share with him/her you want to and are eager to go back to work but can't go back 100%, your GP can write you a medical note saying you can return to work on modified duties. That is, not require you to push stretchers back, but you can do all other duties etc... Most reasonable physicians will be open to doing this as explanting is for long term health benefits. After two weeks under normal circumstances and if you don't have complications you should be ok to do light duties. Just caution with over reaching or stretching. Take care. I wish I could be of more help. LilyQ

Gotta love cute little bras

Hi Everyone,

So I have had a terrible reaction to the antibiotics I was given. Hives galore.

But... I went shopping with a girlfriend to pick a good bra for her which we did, but I ended up getting myself a really nice padded and no under wire sports bra. It's a size 32B and it fits perfectly.

Here are some pics. You can see just a little of my hives. They are still everywhere but they are 20x better now so you can only imagine how brutal they were a few days ago!!!

Sorry to hear about the hives but glad that you are feeling better now. You look great!
