I am 33 years old, 3 kids...last two are 3 yr old twins. Had an umbilical hernia and diastis recti due to having twins. Was so tired of people asking me was I pregnant again...I looked like I was 5 months. I weighed 138 before I had twins and my last weight before surgery was 155. Very small built so belly was really big. My self esteem was dropping as the years past. It took forever to convince my husband that exercise wasn't going to fix my stomach, but he finally came around and I immediately started doing my research on tummy tucks. A co-worker of my husbands actually referred me to my PS and she was happy with her results! I went for my consultation November 11, 2014 and felt real comfortable with Dr. Sproles, so, I scheduled my surgery for January 22, 2015. Had to pay $300 that day...also paid $25 for consultation, which went on my tummy tuck and lipo. The Plastic Surgeon staff was so helpful and nice. The surgery was under 3 hours. They made sure my husband had all the meds I would need. We got a really quick crash course on post-op care, so I relied a lot on you tube and RS. I live 2 1/2 hours away, so we stayed over night at a hotel. Next morning we went back to see PS before we headed back home. The first week was hell!!!!!! On day 7 I was able to get my 1 drain out, so that made me feel better. Day after drain was removed I started swelling bad. I was also very bad bruised from lipo on my sides. It is so hard to wear binder because it feel like my ribs has been broken. As of this post I'm 18 days post op and can almost stand up. It is so much better if you have help at home! My husband had to do everything for me for the first 5 days. I also have my mama here helping cook, watch the kids, and play taxi for the kids. I also am taking off 3 weeks and working from home for a week. The swelling is the worst part for me and the pain on my sides because of the lipo.

The first week with my drain in was hell....so pain was like 8. My stomach just felt numb and weird. You have to make sure you take the pain meds like clock work. I had hydrocodone and percacets for the pain.

Worried about swelling and my belly button. Scab hasn't come off belly button....it look black and too small. Stretch marks a way below my navel now so that's good. My PS told me not to remove the scab on my belly button and that it should come off itself. Doesn't seem to be coming off! My scar is really dark, but my PS doesn't want me to start using stuff to gelp it fade away until I see her on March 2nd....that's 40 days post op! I'm just putting peroxide and ointment on my scar and belly button. Suggestions....thoughts....please?

Hi! I wish you put before pics so we can see what you looked like before, that's always pretty cool to see.!! You are allowed to put peroxide on your incision? And ointment? What kind of ointment? I was told to not put anything on it. I do however put silicone strips on mine because I see lots of great results with it from other ladies on this site. You also said your ps doesn't want you to start using stuff on your scar to help it fade away until after 40 days post op. Damn that's a long time, I started using the silicone strips after about 18 days. And again my ps said you really don't have to put anything on it, he just says let nature take its course. But doesn't it need to stay moist? I'm going to call and ask them this question unless someone else can give thoughts on this. Ok well have a great day!! Happy healing!!

I didn't take any before pics because I was so self conscious of my big bugling belly. All the pics I've taken after I had my twins 3 years ago was of me in baggy over sized clothes. I'm going to see if my PS will send me my pre-op pics, so I can post them. I have been putting antibiotic ointment on my scar and belly button. I might start using some scar strips or something sooner thatn I see my PS, but I'm trying to wait until some areas of my scar heal better. Especially, the area that has opened back up.

Hello Helicoptermom3, I am 20 days PO Had my BB stitches taken out on the 12th. My PS said that where there are scabs (not fallen off yet) to put the antibiotic ointment on those sections and to use Bio Oil on the parts that are CLOSED (and not scabbed). I asked about the strips, he said I could use them further down the road, if I want, that Bio Oil has given great results of helping fade, moisturize etc. Unless my scar is raised or keloided then use the strips. The reason he says not to use the strips right now is that to much "moisture" can cause bacteria to grow under the strips and possibly get into your scar and cause infection as it is a fresh scar (or could open up under the strip and you not notice it right away). As for BB, keep putting the antibacterial ointment on that to keep in moist and free of bacteria growth. My opinion is the peroxide is making the scar "angry and possibly darker while it tries to just heal. Happy Healing!

Karrie62....you were right about the peroxide! Saw my PS yesterday and she said the same thing you said. Thanks for the advice! The peroxide was slowing the healing process of the area that opened up. I also got some scar treatment ointment to start putting on area that has healed.
